____
Email Sony and tell them that someone tried to scam you while you were breaking the TOS of their online service. I'm sure they'll be receptive to your complaints. +Anarkii 1 Share

Minifig
Why on Earth would you give anyone your password? Call me mean or whatever, but I hope PSN bans you for "Game Sharing" as well, because it's exclusively against their terms of service.
x9248
Dude you really have no case since you willingly gave away your password. Don't gameshare with random people and especially not Youtube. Hell, that Tavo only had demo's and a couple games... and he's all "if you wanna gameshare just give me your password". C'mon man! I see you did it as well looking at your sig, not a good idea bro. Just join a forum (obviously not this one) and if you're lucky you'll meet some nice, honest people like I did :)
jamesclarke555
Your naivety is utterly shocking, one thing you should never do is willingly give out account passwords

Nick H. Supervisor Posted June 3, 2010 Supervisor Share Posted June 3, 2010 You sir, are a genius. Think about what you've just told us. You were trying to break the TOS that you agreed to, and you got scammed in the process. Who do you think is going to help you? Because let me tell you, I don't think Sony will be willing to. Also, if it was an empty account then why were you handing it to him, and why did he want it? If there was nothing there then he had nothing to gain from acquiring the login details, and you had nothing to lose if you didn't get the account back. Nick H. Supervisor Posted June 3, 2010 Supervisor Share Posted June 3, 2010 Anyways is game sharing not legal? Well it's almost like torrenting, isn't it? Someone paid for the right to view a TV programme on their TV, then they record it and share it with other people. Those people didn't pay for the right to view the material, and the company doesn't see any profit from it. Apply the same logic to game-sharing. Someone paid for the right to play that game, then they share it with another user. That is one less user that is going to buy the game (since they now own it) and so the company doesn't see any return. Check the TOS. I'm pretty sure that somewhere it says that your account is your own, and that you should not let anyone else have your login details. Part of the reason is security (as you have now learned) but part of it is to combat piracy. That's my logic behind the situation. It might not be strictly correct, but ultimately the answer to your question is "no, it's not legal."

DPyro
Actually at one point Sony actually promoted game sharing. I don't see anything wrong with it. A dev gave me some of his accounts and he doesn't physically know me (I've since deactivated most of them as he told me he's maxed out and afraid his PS3 might die). +Anarkii Subscriber² Posted June 3, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted June 3, 2010 Yeah this thread made me laugh too. Rule of thumb for being online is NEVER GIVE ANYONE, NO MATTER WHO THEY ARE OR CLAIM TO BE, YOUR PASSWORD. For example: Say for some reason Neobond or Redmak (the co owners of this site) asked for my password for whatever reason, say to test a new feature as a Subscriber2. Tell em to F OFF. It doesn't matter who it is, a password on the net is the same as your passport to get in and out of a country. You wouldn't hand that to a random stranger now would you? Anyway im glad you learned your lesson. Also re: game sharing, if a game is good, please buy your own copy. If a game is crap, I see nothing wrong with devs getting no money for it. If anything it shows them that they should of worked harder to produce a more polished game. Anyway cheers thats my 2 cents.
