Jessterw
Can't say I listen to very much rap/hip-hop these days, as it's all gone down hill for the most part. I grew up listening to the various forms and stages of the genre and while it seems to be more popular now than ever, it reached its peak talent wise a few years back. There are so many talented rappers out there that are often ignored, while the talentless hacks get all the airplay (not saying all who do are such). With that said, the artists who stand out most in my mind, flow-wise, are (in no particular order): The Roots, Outkast, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, LL Cool J (pre 'Pink Cookies In A Plastic Bag...'), and a few others that I can't seem to think of right off hand. The problem with this topic is that while many rappers can flow, most have no lyrical skills whatsoever, and if they do, those lyrics are often derivative. Even some of the rappers who once had a firm grip on those, now sound like everyone else... or are at least following the same trends.

Couldn't agree more, I used to be a fan back in the late 80's and early 90's but now I can't really listen to it save for the occasional song on the radio. Add Nas, EPMD, Pete Rock and CL Smooth and Gangstarr to that list.

Jessterw
yea female rappers are idiots You might want to reconsider who the idiot is. Some of the best (relatively speaking) rappers have been women. There is Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Missy Elliot, and some others. They may not all be the best, but some of them are a lot more talented then the male rappers a lot of others have mentioned.
