Extended Service Plans for your PS3 and PSP EMail

So I got this email before in my Gmail account.

Here is a screenshot in case they take it down or whatever...

So although I have never had one issue with my PS3, I have been reading more and more comments online that fat PS3's are indeed starting to brick.

So is this something I should possibly consider doing for the 2 years?

Just curious what others think about this, as honestly just the fact they are sending it as an option, leads me to believe it may indeed be something to consider.

I got this e-mail earlier today too. At first I thought they changed the warranty plan to something like what Microsoft did with the 3 years expansion but it seems that this won't have any effect on older big model PS3s. :(

Sending it in for repair would be useless since i've opened it a few times for dusting and thermal replacement out of paranoia. If I recall correctly, they won't repair it if the sticker's been tampered with.

This is something I would consider. I would definitely like a comprehensive guide on what it does and does not cover. If it was reasonable, I could see myself spending $60 for a 2 year warranty as my PS3 was bought in 07 and was over $600 at the time.

they will repair it no matter what you have done, aslong as you pay them the fee.

Sweet! That's good to know! :D

For the 2 years of me having the system, their cost of repair seems good then. :)

Not a comprehensive guide but the major "bullet points" on the web page says the following...

Plans include:

? Direct access to PlayStation? Support specialists

? No out-of-pocket expenses for qualified claims

? Pre-paid shipping box

? PlayStation? quality, PlayStation? parts, PlayStation? Service Centers

? Backed by the team that brought you the PlayStation? experience

I need to find out exactly what qualified claims means, which it is late for me so heading to bed, but will look into tomorrow.
