+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted June 4, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted June 4, 2010 New Guitar Hero gets new guitar, challenges, story mode Activision has shared many of the details of the upcoming Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. The game will feature a story-driven quest mode where you'll see the characters from previous games turn into demons and you'll be able to play with any combination of instruments. With 90+ songs, the game boasts the largest soundtrack of any Guitar Hero game. The game also features an "an all-new, show-stopping guitar controller that was inspired [by] and born from the game's unique art style and specifically made for shredding," Activision brags. Kerrang has the exclusive first look at the game, sans much gameplay. To keep things interesting, the game introduces a series of challenges for each song in the new title, as well as for most existing songs in the existing Guitar Hero library. "Gamers will complete challenges such as Band Streak, High Score, and Power Challenge, which allows players to choose any two warrior powers they have unlocked to try and earn ridiculously high scores, to rank up and unlock more rewards and content than ever before," an Activision spokesperson explained. "All-new Challenge Leaderboards have been created in order to capture the outrageous scores that are capable with Quickplay+." Here are the announced tracks: AFI "Dancing Through Sunday" Avenged Sevenfold "Bat Country" Black Sabbath "Children Of The Grave" Buzzcocks "What Do I Get?" Children Of Bodom "If You Want Peace... Prepare For War" The Cure "Fascination Street" Def Leppard "Pour Some Sugar On Me (Live)" Dethklok "Bloodlines" DragonForce "Fury of the Storm" Drowning Pool "Bodies" Foo Fighters "No Way Back" Foreigner "Feels Like The First Time" Jane's Addiction "Been Caught Stealing" KISS "Love Gun" Megadeth "Sudden Death" Metallica & Ozzy Osbourne "Paranoid (Live)" Muse "Uprising" My Chemical Romance "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)" Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody" Rammstein "Waidmanns Heil" The Rolling Stones "Stray Cat Blues" Silversun Pickups "There's No Secrets This Year" Slayer "Chemical Warfare" ZZ Top "Sharp Dressed Man (Live)" The game's story mode, where you'll have to take down "the Beast" to save rock n' roll, is also touted as a major selling point. We're hoping to get our hands on the new controller at E3, but right now this seems to be a minimal step forward for the series. Are "warrior powers," a "Beast," and a "show-stopping" controller going to be enough to entice players with closets filled with plastic instruments to buy another game? We're kind of skeptical, but will reserve judgment until we get our hands on the title. Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Wii. UKDarkJedi
Bohemian Raphsody FTW (oh and Bodom too, lol) actually pretty much all of those announced tracks look pretty good. Usually on GH games I have maybe 3 or 4 favourites but they all look damn challenging this time. Waiting to see this new Guitar tho...
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted June 5, 2010 Veteran Share Posted June 5, 2010 Pretty damn poor soundtrack considering the subtitle of the game. My Chemical Romance are Warriors of Rock are they? HA Think I'll be giving this a miss and hoping for a better RB3 soundtrack. "Story mode" really isn't the direction GH/RB need to take imo. MR_Candyman
That's stretching it a bit. Showing your band starting out with no fans, money, or prestige and working your way up. Seems like a story to me. Oh wait, young people nowadays all want everything to be animated for them in order for them to be interested. Reading is so old school... Mr. Gibs
So essentially the new guitar hero is exactly like the old ones but slightly better graphics and new songs. Who would have guessed...

It had about as much of a storyline as Gran Turismo.
Kreuger
They always seem to pick the wrong songs by bands. Like these: Avenged Sevenfold "Bat Country"Children Of Bodom "If You Want Peace... Prepare For War" Megadeth "Sudden Death" Metallica & Ozzy Osbourne "Paranoid (Live)" Slayer "Chemical Warfare" There's nothing wrong with them by any means but there are better choices for a guitar driven game. Elessar
Pass. Laughable that 'Warrior's of Rock' has a bunch of ***** emo bands...that's Activision for you though. Fingers crossed RB3 has Bohemian Rhapsody and Freebird. I'm sold if they do.

I really wish there was a rockband ... rockband Muse edition.. kinda like Green Day.. pretty sure it will sell.

Redacted
So what's this new controller look like then? Anyone seen it, got a linky? Found this (I'm OK to link to that right?) Personally these new guitars look amazing, Can't wait to grab one. I for one am personally looking forward to this, and the tracklist of "***** emo bands" - Because, it's my one the many music genres that I love. To be honest I don't even like old rock. That said, they should re-name the game. My trashy taste in music can hardly be related to "Warriors of Rock" A title which would make you think the game contains the forever-popular older material. PixilEyes
They are charging way to much for these type of games IMO.
|Rapture|
Oh wait, young people nowadays all want everything to be animated for them in order for them to be interested. Reading is so old school... What are you talking about? RB2 has no story. Just a bunch of stars to collect in a bunch of new areas, replaying the same songs 4-5 times over due to the way the random playlists work. I like the game and all but this story mode you are speaking of just doesn't exist.
PL_ Veteran Posted June 9, 2010 Veteran Share Posted June 9, 2010 I believe GH3 or 4 had dlc of Exo-Politics and Stockholm Syndrome. but.. I really wish there was a rockband ... rockband Muse edition.. kinda like Green Day.. pretty sure it will sell. I don't know, Muse aren't that old or legendary...I was a bit disappointed that after making a game of one of the biggest bands of all time (The Beatles) they then made a game for ****ing Green Day. I like Green Day, but seriously? On the same level as The Beatles? It's like that Van Halen Guitar Hero, I mean does anyone actually give a **** about Van Halen bar a couple of songs? And are they really on the same level as Metallica, or even Aerosmith? I suppose they could do a RB Muse and it would be amazing (because it's Muse), I just thought the idea of the band-themed titles was to pay tribute to truly legendary bands that have been around for decades and have extensive back catalogues. Unrealistic
I believe GH3 or 4 had dlc of Exo-Politics and Stockholm Syndrome. but.. I really wish there was a rockband ... rockband Muse edition.. kinda like Green Day.. pretty sure it will sell. I can only take so much of Matthew Bellamy's pretentious lyrics and use of falsetto before I start crying. The music is good (except for when they steal classical music and pretend it's their own arrangements).
