How did you come upon your gaming moniker?

Recommended Posts

Nagisan - When I created it a couple years ago, it was merely a combination of letters that went together (after much trial and error) when a friend and I started playing on a WoW private server, it was fairly short, easy to remember, and sounded pretty cool so it just sort of stuck.

Also, help me get ideas for a new moniker......while Nagisan is still good IMO, I am starting to become bored with it. I am sort of looking for a funny short phrase or another unique name (like Nagisan was when I started using it) but have so far been unable to find one that I have felt like sticking with.

Singh400

Singh = last name (duurrrhhhh!)

400 = random number assigned to my by Hotmail when creating my very first email address. Good times!

I use it everywhere I go. Whether it be forums or gaming. Although there is an imposted on the Xbox forums, some dude stole my internet handles :(

when i started online gaming in the mid '90s i used the handle "BigBlueKangeroo"

this for some reason i cannot recall eventually turned into "BigGreenMonkey"

during online games, that was a bit of a ball ache to type out / say over comms, so it eventually got shortened to BGM

:)

Thats why I try to keep mine short....no point in having a funny name if people cannot pronounce it or do not say the whole thing over voice chat......even with Nagisan most people call me Nagi anyway....

Put simply, Chase was the name of my dog, a greyhound, whom passed away last year. put something rhyming on the end and voila, it works. Quite often I shorten it to just Chase.

For me there was an evolution of names. 7 Shot > Se7en > svnO.o > svn.rsx (current game name)

7 Shot was due to my love for the deagle (desert eagle) in CS 1.6 and being pretty good with it (anywhere from 25-50% accuracy, takes around 1-4 hits to kill depending on spot). Changed the name to Se7en cuz I got tired of having a name with 2 words and people called me 7 anyway. Then I wanted to be diff. since Se7en is fairly common and changed it to svnO.o (short representation of the word seven and a face with 1 eye wider than the other ). Now it's svn.rsx since I recently got an Acura RSX for my first car :)

When I played MOH:AA (with some sort of mod), I would crash the planes into people on the ground. -Kami.

Ever since I was in high school my friends called me -Quazi.

Well, The two names I use for gaming are:

  • Swedish Rambo
  • Thorstian

Swedish Rambo is currently my xbl, the name of which goes way back to when I used to play W:ET (Wolfenstien Enemy Territory) I always used to run directly in the battlefield without care for the people around me, sometimes managing to pass through so quickly I could reach the objectives. As you could expect, from moving so quick... my killing was reckless.

People just started nicknaming me that and I decided to use it as my Xbox name, it was available after-all :)

Thorstian is more of a recent name, something I use for any MMORPG's I play. Thor (from Norse mythology) mixed in with the ending of my name.

Oh, and to the OP, thank you for teaching me a new word, I had never heard of moniker before :p

I've gone through a few over the years and I generally stuck with my actual name. Was with "Riane" for a few years and out of nowhere I started going by "yummy cupcakes." Then finally changed to "iLL Cupcakes" which has stuck ever since.

I used to listen to a lot of reggae, dub, and drum n bass. The DJs would say "all up in a mah-siv"

So i decided to go with Massiveterra (Massive Terror)

NP, I try to keep my vocabulary as open as possible when I can....I have heard of moniker long before this topic but I never really had a chance to use it. :p

I think I may just shorten my name to "Nagi", so people do not have to re-learn who I am and it looks physically different while also remaining short and easy to pronounce.....I am currently using "High School Nerd" for no real reason......I am far beyond high school, but I wanted a name that would sort of make people rage when they get dominated by me, not sure if its really doing anything though so I'll probably change it here soon.

I used to go by the name of Hunter1942. I eventually grew tired of the number at the end of my name so I set out to find something better.

Joe Perry from Aerosmith, which happens to be my favorite band, came out with a hot sauce called BoneyardBrew, so I decided to use that.

My original Name (back in the interact Gameshark.com days before it was sold to Mad Catz) was Murassmeblade this was a typo, was supposed be Murasameblade for the sword from FF7.

the reason i kept it was because it had the word A@$ in it lol and it was when i had AOL so i couldn't create any more usernames.

eventually me and some other guys (SolFire , DuranKenni , -=[xeriak]=- , Mandrea , Justin from the old Gameshark forums left and started our own Website GamingSocietyX of Which I did a lot of forum coding/hacking/maintenance

We still had ties to FNG and the other Datel guys who were still working on the Pro Action Replay but our site sorta fell apart and died :(

anyway at some point I was thinking about the double helix in DNA and thought what if there was a third helix hidden from detection that held all the so called "supernatural" potential of human beings

I came to think of this third hidden helix as a "Phantom Helix" and thus I was reborn ! :D

Minifig is short for Miniature Figure, the little people by LEGO.

I've been playing with LEGO longer than anything else that I can remember, and building big sets since 1989. I also love the detail they put into Minifigs.

So, therefore... Minifig.

Originally I was Enigma-Penguin, I don't remember how it came about. I think the first time I used it was actually here 7 or so years ago when I joined and I used that until around last year.

The name I use right now is a mild combination of two things and then shortened: The author Roald Dahl and the character Darken Rahl, which became Dahrken, which became Dahr. I started using that whilst playing mmos and I much prefer it I must say.

Originated from Omniblade32 back from my days of online games. (Omni means 'everything', 32 is my favorite number).

Changed it to Omnicoder once I got into programming.

All of my online names and such are based on the song Little Neutrino by Klaatu in 1974 here is a video (not a music video there was never one made) that contains the music

My name is Larry and I get down and Dirty when I play.

LOL It is an homage to the Clint Eastwood character Dirty Harry who was first introduced to the public in the 1970's action movie Magnum Force. My friends have been calling me it since freshmen year in college which for me was 18 years ago. It's just always stuck.

The main one I use is "Bomples" and I've been using it since the late 90's. I actually got it from Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit (I think, was a long time ago) as there was a AI player called "Bomple" and it was always at the back of the pack and I thought that's me! (cause I suck) so a threw a "s" at the end of it and rest is history :p
