carmatic
hey guys, are you guys into using projectors instead of monitors/tv's ? which brands do you like? what type of technology (lcd, dlp) do you prefer? how much do you spend on them?
jerzdawg
I have just started to dive into the world of projectors.... from my early research the popular brands seem to be: Epson Mitsubishi JVC Panasonic Optoma Sony It seems the dlp vs lcd is dependant on ones taste. For a 1080p projector be prepared to spend around $1500 for a low end, and around $2500 for a quality one (there are obviously projectors out there that can run anywhere from $3000 - $10,000) There are lots of things to consider when shopping around (lumens, throw distance, etc.) Lots of homework to do before actually making the purchase. Check out http://www.projectorcentral.com/ for a wealth of knowledge that will end up confusing you more.
carmatic
actually im hoping to get a projector for a nightclub job doing music visualization... im looking at 1024x768 resolution and pretty low cost my only unusual requirement is being able to connect it to my radeon 5870 eyefinity6 , basically it needs to have a dvi/displayport/hdmi input, and that will drive the price up benq is another brand to look out for, my i know that my university uses that brand of projectors
DrDrrae
If that's the case then you can pretty much just get the bottom of the barrel projector.
carmatic
yeah i think i dont actually have to buy a DVI projector if i can get my hands on one of these http://www.hdfury.com/ dvi to viga connector... the thing is i've heard about different signals which can go across a VGA connection, like composite, s-video, RGB, etc etc... thats the thing which worries me now but being able to use a vga port really opens up alot of possibilities in terms of portability and price
