I'm Going to Get a PS2.. Any Games Recommendations?

Recommended Posts

I recently got a TV Card, and it turns out it has a "games mode" whereas if I plug a console into it I can play it off the monitor. Anyway, I already have a Gamecube, and a very good high-end gaming PC.. but I am thinking of getting a PS2 as well to finish off the collection (and perhaps a Dreamcast?)

I'm hoping to grab the PS2 off eBay, but I'm a bit stumped when it comes to games :s So there you go, Neowin.. what's the best games for PS2? :)

Thanks in advance,

C3NTURY.

James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing... best 007 game ever. Very underrated,

Everyone slept on this title. So awesome I have to pick it back up soon and replay.

This is a nexgen title in a ps2 console.:p

Devil May Cry 1&3

Onimusha 1, 2, 3... 4 kinda sucked

God of War 1&2

Resident Evil 4

SOCOM II

I highly recommend Resident Evil 4, one of the best ps2 games ever made. Even though it was originally a Gamecube game.

Yeah GTA:SA, GoW 1 and 2. ohh good call from tragedy on RE4 ++ to that. You can pick up mortal kombat deception and the other one pretty cheap on ps2. They are still good value and even better with mates.

anything metal gear related.

Definitely. Metal Gear Solid 2 was great (although having to play as Raiden for most of it was a bit of a let down for me), and Metal Gear Solid 3 was awesome for the camouflage aspect.

Grand Theft Auto. I'm not sure whether I would recommend Vice City or San Andreas. San Andreas really had a worldly feel to it with the huge deserts, forests, mountains and busy cities, but I never completed the story. Vice City on the other hand has an awesome soundtrack, a decent sized city, but no real "countryside." It also played out like Scarface, which was great.

Gran Turismo 4 was good fun as well, although I started playing it too soon after I'd played GT3, so the aspect of starting from scratch made me drop the game after a while.

If you have a good enough PC, why not try using an emulator? You can then bump up the internal rendering, apply anti-aliasing, and have some much better looking games. I'm pretty sure you can run them from the disks (can't you?), so it wouldn't be illegal. Correct me if I'm wrong, of course.

SSX is so much fun!

I second that. SSX3 is loads of fun. Played it again recently, if only they'd bring the series to current gen.
