Windows Shutdown stuck..

Recommended Posts

"start > turn off computer" results in windows going to my logon screen and saying "Windows is shutting down" .. --> but then it doesn't do anything.. i think i could leave it there all day and it'd just sit there.. so i end up hitting the power button.. annoying..

i have an ECS K7S5A w/ Athlon XP 1600 if that makes a difference.. bios is updated.

any ideas?

thanks!

Right click on My computer, properties, open hardware, open device manager, click on view, show hidden devices, and enable atm/legacy support. That should do it. Only on my computer it doesn't come to the shutdown screen it shuts down sooner.

After you click Show hidden... on view scroll down and you should see iall your devices (even some listed many times). Search for NT Apm/Legacy Support and under it NT Apm/Legacy interface node and it should have a red cross on the icon. Right click on that and click enable. That should do it. In case you don't have a red cross on Apm.... I don't know, maybe you should look in your bios setting regarding advanced power management. Let me know, huh. Good luck!

For When the system hangs at "Saving Settings" i dunno if that'll help you, but if you haven't done ALL your updates, i would suggest that.
