This game is 10x more fun than Bioshock (I found Bioshock to be boring and repetitive).

Boring and repetitive? What the **** is this then?!

I agree, I couldn't get into Bioshock 1 or 2 at all, I gave both of them a couple of tries.

I just realized what this game reminds me of, and that is Resistance, Fall of Man. Thing is though I would have to say it is a much better game that that was. But the creatures remind me a bit of the Chimera for sure.

I would say that is my biggest beef with this game overall, that it borrows so heavily from so, so many other games. Bioshock, Half Life (gravity), Killzone (the hellghast), Timeshift (the whole time manipulation thing) and as I mentioned Resistance. It really does not have a single original concept IMO, and considering how the genre of FPS's has been beaten to death these past couple of years, I personally feel that originality is a pretty important aspect of a good FPS.

With that said it is by no means a bad game, in fact I am kind of digging it overall now, but we will see if it keeps my interest enough to beat it. If not it gets sent back to Gamefly, and I could definitely say I am glad I rented it.

How long is it so far? I don't want to purchase a game and have the story line only be 6 hours.

If I knew I would definitely share. Hopefully someone else does and can let you know. I am probably about 2 hours in or so myself, and it definitely feels like I have a long way to go, as I am still getting the occasional in game tutorial message that pops up explaining new uses for items, new abilities, etc.

I just wanted to share the fact that tonight I finally got to play it some more, was having trouble falling asleep so decided to go downstairs and play it, and it truly does get way, way, way better than I ever thought it would. It is actually shaping up to be a really good game. Way more impressed than I initially was, and usually it is the exact opposite for me. I definitely think it is a really, really damn good game.

With that said, the one and only thing that is now a tad annoying is how it truly does utilize some of my least favorite First Person Shooter stereotypes. I am having a hard time recalling that last game that has abused the use of explosive barrels as much as Singularity does. Also what is it with people leaving perfectly good items in garbage bins?

Yeah, the more I play it the more compelling it gets. It really does have an interesting narrative, and that's what's going to keep me playing. I read in Game Informer that it has 3 different endings, with the "good ending" being one of the most unique experiences in games this year.

Finally got to the first "boss fight" last night and man, did the controls with the telekinesis plasmid were so unresponsive it ****ed me off.

I also got to the first "leveling up" station last night. That too reminded me of bioshock.

Maybe one issue with the game is pacing. You don't get the first plasmid until over an hour into the game and the story really doesn't unfold far into it as well.

Yeah I don't get the Bioshock comparasions at all. But hey, to each his own I guess...

They're both FPS, Crashing from the air at the beginning of the game to a once fruitful place which has been destroyed through it's own corruption of ideology, this mysterious place is considered a "character" in the story, Plasmids, dark atmosphere, real time cutscenes and dialog, 50's film strips with harp music, statue of andrew ryan, splicers, the upgrade system, audio logs, you collect adam to upgrade your plasmids, you collect eve to power up your plasmid

Yeah I did that fight last night as well, and the controls were definitely a tad unresponsive for sure. So much so I died on purpose just so I could do it over again and not lose so much health. I think I left off right there actually.

And I totally 110% see the Bioshock references myself.

Sometimes I wish they got a little bit more creative with the puzzle elements of the game. They're quite simple and are used over and over. They really had a good opportunity to get a little bit more "environmental" in design, especially with the use of all of the powers you get. But then again, I'm only in the first quarter of the game so maybe they get better

The opening of Half-Life 2 actually had tons of explosive barrel designs  Probably one of the weaker aspects of Half-Life 2.

Played for about one hour so far. Interesting story. Graphics are nice, as is the sound and animation, but the guns don't feel very powerful and the enemies are a bit boring.

This game is pretty fun. Last night I got through the first big boss fight, it felt old school, which was pretty cool. Once again, nothing like Bioshock. Actually fun.

That guys play was kinda boring. I run and gun, keep it fast moving. I personally hate all the notes, recordings and videos scattered through games including this one, I don't care to listen to it, I just wanna shoot some bad guys/monsters.

Gamespot pretty much got it right in there review:

this first-person shooter is all about blasting hideous mutants with shotguns and performing crazy time-manipulation powers. It isn't deep and it isn't pretty--it's just an absolute riot, filled with fun shoot-outs, a few clever puzzles, and an overall kookiness that fans of old-fashioned shooters can rally behind. Those powers may come across as gimmicks at first, but they add a dash of gusto to the shooting, keeping the action from ever feeling stale.
Singularity isn't a groundbreaking shooter, but it's an incredibly fun one. This is an example of how fluid pacing and a tongue-in-cheek attitude can make old conventions exciting again.
