Berserk87
this game looks awesome. It also looks very similar to bioshock.
Ayepecks
Played about an hour through, and it's awesome so far IMO. So far, it seems like a mix of Bioshock, Half-Life 2 and F.E.A.R. -- all great games in my book. Also, the gameplay movie Masked Forever posted was at the very beginning. Ayepecks
I can't edit my last post anymore, but I'm fairly close to the end and I have to say, it's one of my favorite FPS games in recent memory so far. The only drawbacks I can think of are rather minor: - I hate the checkpoint save system. There are some extremely frustrating moments because of it (moreso than most checkpoint games, IMO). - The HUD can be annoying as it automatically fades unless you're really low on health, so sometimes you won't know how much health or ammo you have. - There are some rather rudimentary "let's throw a ton of bad guys in a patterned fashion" levels, which are a letdown from the rest of the gameplay. Ayepecks
But how long is the game? Since you're almost done with it? When I say "fairly close to the end," I mean I've got probably less than a third or a fourth to go. I'm playing on hard, and I started playing around 4 p.m. and stopped at around 11 p.m. with a brief break, so around 6 hours so far and I'd guess there's another good 3-4 hours in it. That's entirely a guess, though.
neoadorable
played about an hour of this on a friend's PS3 and no offense intended to those who like it and to the dev team, but this is as generic and predictable as they come. by no means a bad one, but everything in it has been done exactly the same way in some other relatively recent release. and it's true what was said here earlier, the Stalin bust is just like the Ryan head in Bioshock, and the opening scenes on the water and then the pier...that was straight Bioshock meets Dark Sector meets Metro 2033 meets Perfect Dark Zero. will wait until it's heavily discounted! Razorwing - not sure if you're still reading this, but re: Starcraft 2, didn't hit my head, just don't want to pay almost double what we did in 1998 for one third the game, if indeed the initial release is only the Terran campaign! DrunknMunky Veteran Posted July 5, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 5, 2010 Well Dead Space / Uncharted 1 & 2 got by pretty fine ripping off all the games they did in their respective genres. i.e Resident Evil, Gears of War etc etc

I don't feel any Dark Sector or Perfect Dark: Zero, personally (especially no PD: 0). And, again, the first hour really isn't representative of the entire game at all. I'm not saying you'll like it anymore, but it's a completely different game after that point.
rajputwarrior
Well Dead Space / Uncharted 1 & 2 got by pretty fine ripping off all the games they did in their respective genres. i.e Resident Evil, Gears of War etc etc as much as those games did do that, they did it in a way that was better then everyone else so far (especially uncharted 2) and i agree, this game looks like a generic FPS clone of doom/bioshock
neoadorable
being derivative doesn't write a game off entirely. will wait on it, but i understand if people enjoy it. heck i got TimeShift to play through right now, and that's not the greatest shooter since Half Life, let me tell you... ahmz
If you don't like the game then that's ok.. different strokes for different folks, but if you haven't played it, then why criticise it? I just finished the game and personally it's the best FPS I've played since Crysis, gameplay/fun/entertainment wise. And this is the only game since Crysis where I wish it would've gone on for longer, the rest felt like a chore. But how long is the game? Since you're almost done with it? I'm not sure to be honest, but I'm guessing it took me about 5 hours or so to finish, it wasn't very long, but it was very enjoyable. I loved using the pulse and the UBER PULSE! trag3dy
If it's only 5ish hours to beat then it's not worth $50, I don't care how good the game is. I guess I'll hold off on this one until it's a lot less.

Yea, I did it on Medium, and skipped all the notes/recordings/videos. I'm gonna re-do it on Hard and try and collect everything this time  Double the fun! :p
Ayepecks
I'm on the very last bit (probably an hour or so from the end), so I'd say hard mode will take most people ~10 to 13 hours, depending on skill.
Razorwing
I just started it.. some parts a freaky.. some are awesome. It's too bad the TMD doesn't have unlimited power.. you always have to recharge it or let it recharge :p
DirtyLarry Veteran Posted July 7, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 7, 2010 Just curious to those that did beat it, as I see Gamefly delivered Crackdown 2 to me today and I have a feeling that will take up most of my time when it arrives, can anyone provide me with approximately how many hours I have left in the game? I am moving at a pretty decent pace, and I am currently walking through the Pearl ship that I just resurrected. So how far do I have to go? I have a funny feeling I may never beat this game, as I am slowly starting to lose interest, but if I am somewhat near the end, then I will go ahead and forge on. You're very close to the end. The segment of the game you're on isn't very long, and after that it's essentially the last level. Also, go to "Load Game" and it'll show you a progress bar (of the rough percentage you're at in the campaign) when you hover over your game file. (Y) I actually finished were I was, you were right not long at all. Just curious does what you said about the Load Game also apply to the 360 version? Is that the version you are playing? I have just been choosing Continue Game so never even looked at the Load Game screen, but definitely will soon, watching my Tuesday night TV shows with the wife so will check before I go to bed. Thanks again, if I am that close I will definitely finish it.
Elliot B.
GameTrailers video review: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-hd-singularity/701481 They gave it 6.9/10. Seems fair.

You don't have to load it from there (I just click continue as well), but it does give you a little holographic meter of how far in the game you are. To be honest, the last level is fairly long -- probably an hour to two hours since you've never played it before. @ King Mustard: IMO, it's a solid 8.5/10 game. While the gameplay does take bits and pieces from other (great) FPS games, it's a pretty unique experience. If you've been following the game since it was announced like me, you'll notice a lot of differences from early previews of the game. I can definitely see some parts they didn't scrap when they started over -- like the level Larry was just on as well as a boss fight in the preceding level. You can tell because the game takes you out of the first-person view (which it seemed like they really tried to make sure everything was in first-person), and the cutscenes are almost identical to what was previewed in the game before it was restarted (and delayed). I have a feeling that Singularity was shaping up to be another mediocre Raven game due to time constraints, but either they decided to ask Activision for more time, or Activision sent in someone to help give them some direction (like THQ did with S.T.A.L.K.E.R.). I'm really pleased with how the game turned out. Almost all of my complaints are technical (no quick save/load, even on the PC; I've read the PC version has a few graphical issues; no chapter select as that review points out; some connection issues in multiplayer, and a couple other minor gripes). I'm not saying the game is going to rock your world by any means, but it's been quite a while (IMO) since a legitimately good FPS game has come out (I'd say Crysis or the first Bioshock, personally -- not sure which one was later). I do wish they had even more time to refine some things even more and make it an amazing game, but it's still very good.
