Singularity

Just curious to those that did beat it, as I see Gamefly delivered Crackdown 2 to me today and I have a feeling that will take up most of my time when it arrives, can anyone provide me with approximately how many hours I have left in the game?

I am moving at a pretty decent pace, and I am currently

walking through the Pearl ship that I just resurrected.

So how far do I have to go? I have a funny feeling I may never beat this game, as I am slowly starting to lose interest, but if I am somewhat near the end, then I will go ahead and forge on.

Yea not long at all, probably an hour or two, depending on your pace. The game just keeps getting better from this point too, IMO.

Was able to just beat the game just now, I would have yesterday but my main TV is a Sony Bravia DLP, and sure enough about 20 minutes in to playing yesterday the lamp blew (have a replacement on it's way), so took me awhile to bring my 360 upstairs and hook it up in my bedroom, etc. So just got around to finishing it today.

I am going to go back and do the different endings, pretty self explanatory what needs to be done I would say, and I like how the save point is right before it.

So definitely one of the better FPS's to come out in awhile I would say. It definitely lacked originality in some areas, but everything it did, it did really, really well. Definitely glad I played it and beat it.

He gives you a choice of who to kill.. but then I thought, can't I kill them both? Lol, sure enough I could and got a 3rd ending.

I found/find the game a little boring.... To be honest I am getting sick of most games released lately, its just the same old crap with a different spin put on it. Where is something exciting again??????

Was the second one I tried, just had to see. I liked that. (Y)

My favorite was the ending where you did what you were told to, essentially...

when you go back in time and kill yourself. The ending just fits so perfectly with what you go through the entire campaign and has a kind of evil little twist.

My second favorite was the one you two are discussing, though. None of them were bad endings, though.

So I just finally beat the game. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I was about to give up and send it back to gamefly because there were parts of the game I felt were dragging or boring, but damn am I glad I stuck through it. All endings were good, some of the best endings in a game I've seen in a while (Y).

Can someone explain to me what the the part after the credits is supposed to mean? Also, why some signs said

Don't Trust The Girl

That's just how the girl knew to expect you coming. You remember in the beginning how she basically said, 'it's really you!'? That's because she told herself about it (but she didn't know it was herself who told her, if that makes sense). The signs were all from your own character's travels in the past and he was going crazy trying to figure it all out and what works and doesn't work, basically. At least, that's my interpretation of it all.

interesting...makes sense. What about the whole "trusting" part?

I think it's because in multiple different timelines, your character has been sent back and various things have happened that have changed time (for example, at the end when Dimenchev says you've already tried that and it didn't work -- just one timeline). And sometimes, they don't end up working out for your character. There are conflicting notes left, some that say "don't trust the girl" or don't trust Barislov, but there's another that says something like "I don't know what I'm saying", and one that says "my brain hurts." So it's basically your character not knowing who to trust, being screwed over in different timelines, etc.

See, the Barislov notes made a lot of sense to me since in the "good" ending, he is the one that ends up ruling the world, or at least you assume he does since the large statue is replaced with his image

Exactly, that's why it's my favorite ending -- everything meshes so well. In one of the timelines, that's what happened and that's why you shouldn't trust him, which makes a whole lot of sense. I like that ending because it's kind of paradoxical.

Yeah the other endings seemed more like afterthoughts, and really reminded me of the inFamous style.

It's too bad that there won't be any more Singularities after this. I have to say, in the beginning the game really seemed like a Bioshock ripoff with hints of Half Life 2, but nearing the end, the game really found a life of it's own

Agreed. I wish they had even more time to work on it, because they could've made a truly amazing game. Judging from the sales, though, this will never see a sequel or any sort of extension.

^ Hahahahaha! Took me a couple of seconds to get the joke.

Anyway, has anyone noticed the upgrade system in the game? It uses some cool 3D menu graphics. It's definitely an impressive use of Scaleform's UI technology (see here).

  • 4 weeks later...

finished it just now. overall decent, deserved the 7/10 IGN gave it, Eurogamer's 8/10 was a little too high. polished, but pretty much everything in it was lifted from somewhere else, even the surprise ending. it was so Bioshock/Dark Sector/Dead Space/Half-Life most of the time, it occasionally wasn't funny. but generally i'd recommend it to anyone looking for a decent shooter with some nice visuals and solid presentation. kinda on the short side, though. and the the constant "viva la rushkiya" from the soldiers got annoying. why would commies even say something like that?
