Repair IE

Recommended Posts

All you have to do is search the registry for:

1. Download All by FlashGet

2. Download using FlashGet

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerMenuExtDownload All by FlashGet

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerMenuExtDownload using FlashGet

When you delete the 2 keys above, it should automatically delete the 2 below...

# = Number

HKEY_USERSS-1-5-21-##########-#########-##########-####SoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerMenuExtDownload All by FlashGet

HKEY_USERSS-1-5-21--##########-#########-##########-####SoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerMenuExtDownload using FlashGet

Now do another search for:

1. FlashGet

Now delete anything else to do with FlashGet, and you should be good to go...

DamN,

look in the place I put in my first post.

Those menus are held in:

HKEY_USERSS-1-5-21-##########-#########-##########-####SoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerMenuExt

I don't / didn't have any under HKEY_Current_User, but all mine are in this key

HKEY_USERSS-1-5-21-##########-#########-##########-####SoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerMenuExt

Whenever you have any of these problems, try this:

RE-Install the problem program (for instance, Flashget in this case), then Uninstall it.

I don't know, I don't see how Flashget won't remove these keys.

Although, I have not used Flash Get so I can't say whether flashget is flawed or not.

... Oh you want to keep FlashGet, don' you?

Damn these programs, they should ask you whether to intergrate or not at the time of installation, but they forced them on your system. It's not like FlashGet is an important command on the IE page properties.

I don't know about that, I like the context menu options that flashget put in there quite frequently.

But, I do feel when you remove a program (correctly via their uninstall routine), that it should remove ** ALL ** traces in the registry and files on the computers. You can remove a program, then go back through the registry (or you directory structure) and find MANY things not removed. This is one thing that causes people (especially those who install alot of programs) to have to reload their computer around every 6 months!

no problem iconman... now, does anyone know of any tools I can use to compare one part of a registry with another? Like I guess I'm trying to compare the registry entries for two users.
