Gran Turismo 5 Releases 11/02/10

Recommended Posts

Seems I preordered this a long time ago. Must have been a long time ago as I dont remember doing it (*EDIT* 05/08/2009 apparently). Anyhow, I just got an email update from GAME...

Dear Mr Palmer

Thank you for the following order placed with GAME.

Order number(s):

xxxxxxx/x

As you may already be aware, the UK release date for Gran Turismo 5 has changed to 02-Nov-2010. Changes to release dates are relatively common in the videogames industry and are unfortunately beyond our control.

Global release date after all then?

Might change my order as www.shopto.net are £2 cheaper.

Holy S***.

I just saw that trailer posted in this thread, and the Redbull building they show is the one where I live (Milton Keynes, UK) it's like... a 2 minute walk away.

That aside, this game looks Awesome. Now I'm not a PS3 gamer (Never owned a Playsation in my life) But I am planning to buy the console soon so I can mix up my game collection a bit. I really want to play some the exclusives you lot are getting :) (GT5, MotorStorm: Apocalypse, God of War, Little Big Planet, Etc...)

Top Gear Test Track! This game is the only reason I bought my PS3 for in the first place.

Why ? We have yet to see any actual race graphics, and more importantly like Forza fans have said since the start, yes, graphics are nice. But in a sim racer, it's the game engine and simulation that's important. We have yet to see any indication that GT5 is close to FM3 in that regard, outside of pretty stuff like doors and bumpers falling off.

on the other hand, GT has never been about being a hardcore sim either, and if they make it that now, then they're just reacting to Forza and ignoring their long time core fans, which rather expect a light fun sim, not a hardcore racing sim.

It's gonna ba great game for sure, but I believe they'll stick to where they have always been, the lighter end of the sim scale, but this time with damage for less fishtailing and wall riding.

Well I was being more a smart arse then anything else...you know Forza is on Xbox 360, green with envy? you know ;) Well that is a little harsh calling GT a "light fun sim", I'm from a GT background (started at GT2) and although I'm primarily a GT fan I also have followed and played Forza (had the first but didn't like it, 2 was much better and 3 very good) and while they are both very different beasts, I wouldn't call GT soft, flawed but not soft.

Looks incredible, and that Top Gear track is almost enough to make you buy it alone. This is one of the few games I wouldn't mind having a Playstation for, but they've waited and delayed this game that Forza 4 is already deep in development with Kinect integration. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing though, so I guess we'll just wait and see. Still a while till either is out.

I find it hard to believe people can compare realism when using Forza with a straight face. Is like talking car power with a budget sports car. Yeah you have a racy thing there, but is it really the big fry. GT is not the sims of the sims, but it strikes a fine balance in realism and user friendliness if GT5P is anything to go by. I tried my hand on Forza before, to me is a Sim but is not anything special. If anything, it is merely the top sim because it is the only Sim that is mildly respectable, and it used the notoriety of GT and the exclusiveness to boost it following. Forza is a great game with all the nice sugar coating of cars and graphics, decent Sim. I would say there are plenty PC games that offers more realism than what we see in Forza. And funny how people bring out a comparison when no one even instigate one.....

I'm getting to CE edition. That is for sure, even if it makes me broke.....

Race Pro 09 by SIMBIN > Forza and GT for simulation realism.
