Crysis 2 Developer Walkthrough (HD Gametrailers)

Wow. Just Wow. I honestly cannot believe this is console footage. Actually I just realized, there is a slim chance it may not be and they are just using the 360 controller on a PC. I was actually not paying attention to everything they were saying, so perhaps they address this.

Either way it does not matter, it looks absolutely amazing. Beautiful even.

And here is some other footage...

I actually just installed Crysis on my PC yesterday, decided to replay it in anticipation of this release. It is really nice finally having a PC capable of playing it (more or less, only 2x AA) in all of it's glory as well.

On Voodoo Extreme, the news poster stated that it was being played on a PC with a 360 gamepad, but he never verified it in any way, so you'd have to take his word for it. I'm sure it will look very good on consoles, though. I'm really looking forward to this -- I love that it's still going to be open-ended, while having some more linear levels (but obviously you can go about them anyway). This fall's looking mighty good for FPS games :D

This game couldn't come any sooner. I never had the opportunity to play the previous. So i'm really stoked about this one making its way to consoles.

Yeah, it definitely is going to be an incredibly good season for FPS's. (Y) (Speaking of, totally OT but I went to Gamestop to preorder MoH for the 360 to get in the beta tomorrow, and of course it was postponed for the 360 until next week, so I may go change my preorder to the PC now )

And okay I had a sneaky suspicion it might be on the PC, I mean it just looks so damn crisp, I would literally be dumbfounded if it looks that good on the consoles. Not saying it will not look great on the consoles, it just does look phenomenal. Also I saw no tearing at all, which was pretty prevalent in that one video that was posted that was confirmed to be console gameplay. Either way it is irrelevant, as it also looks incredibly fun.

Like i said I am revisiting the first one right now, and I honestly have no clue how people could say it was/is not a good game.

I think this could be the first game where i might be persuaded to actually buy an expensive Gfx card just to get it looking and running like that.

Bring it on, this and Deus Ex 3

Indeed, the gameplay looked brilliant visually :|

I definitely hear you on that one. I built my first computer (the one in my signature) in August of 2008, well after Crysis had been released. My PC was able to tackle it fairly well, but it just goes to show you how much the original Crysis was packing in terms of graphics.

My hope is that Crytek develops the game (code wise) more than necessary to make the game playable at a decent frame rate while still being able to look gorgeous. Wishful thinking, I know.

Videos are taking a while to load, but while I'm waiting...have any of you seen R.A.G.E. on the 360? The graphics are pretty damn amazing and the framerate is just silky smooth. Don't mean to hijack the thread, but damn did it look good.

I thought it was Xbox footage as you see the xbox button icons pop up.

Right, but if you plug a 360 controller into a PC, those same button icons will pop up (in certain games at least, most any games that say Games For Windows Live for example, the most recent one I can recall was Tom Clancy's HAWX), and it was indeed kind of confirmed above that is what is happening with these videos, that it is a PC with a 360 controller plugged in.

From the dev videos I've seen in the past the console version will look pretty close to that as well, the PC version can do more light effects thanks to DX11 or w/e that the consoles don't support.

I would be very surprised if that turned out to be console footage. It just looked so damn good! I might have to build a new gaming rig for Crysis 2. I don't think my HD 4870 will be able to handle it at 1680x1050.

Looks like the PC version to me too. Back in 2007 when Crysis came out, it really showed off the fact that PC graphics were 1-2 generations ahead of the consoles. Now PC graphics are 4-5 generations ahead of consoles, so I don't really think there can be much hope for those. I'm sure they'll make it look similar but what we call the "shader powered effects" will be weak or absent.

This game does look great. I loved the original crysis.

Anyone know how this game will fair on my 8800GTS 640mb?

Crysis 2 is supposed to be about the same visually as the first and optimized better, it should play alright (albeit not on high) I could play crysis 2 on my 9600gt on a mix of med and high settings at 1440x900.
