I just wanted to know of a very good free webhost.. like webs.com or something but which allows me to upload my custom HTML website and use that instead of a predefined template. Is it possible? And if such hosts exist can somebody write here some sites :)

i dont think many people will talk to you if you use dreamweaver ... as far as i am aware most people on this forum are (like my self) those who use note pad :D or basic compliers .... but either way free webs is about as good as your going to get... or try one.com its 9 quid for the first year with a domain name....

well a friend of mine wants me to build a site for him. He cant pay alot so i said ill try for free but he wants to pay me whatever he can. And well i dont know anything about coding but ive worked on Dreamweaver like 5 years back :p

its gona be a very simple site.. HTML.

the problem is that once the site is done.. u have to upload it and make it work on a domain or something. I wana know is there a free hosting site which allows u to upload ur own site rather than using the limited templates.. for example blog sites only allow you to use templates and dont allow you to upload your own made site. :p

can u guys give me some steps to getting this job done?

I don't know the top of my head of any free hosts but If you look around Google, search for web hosting forums and go through them. You can make a topic on their forums and see If anyone is generous enough to host your stuff.

My suggestion would be to go with a free host. I'm with NameCheap right now and they are fantastic. I only pay $6.99 a month and I have not had any issues for the past 6 months I have been with them.

Always go with a paid host than a free host --- Free hosts tend to screw you over at times when you least expect it and they have a higher chance of going down or having downtimes continously. (Hence why they are free)

Good luck.

i seriously get an idea :)

well ill let him know. To go with a freesite or if he wants me to build a site then atleast he should register a domain and find a paid host.

Providing you don't need DNS or an email exchange appointing to a specific dns or some weird stuff, I'll host you on my server for free, shoot me an email. nullbytes[at]hotmail.com

This is not a free hosting company but they provide very good service and I have a lot of sites of clients running from them. HostGator.com has a few packages, but if you are a web designer and have a lot of clients, they have an option where you have unlimited domains, bandwidth and disc space. The only off-side is that you will not provide a cPanel for each of your clients' sites so you will have to be ready whenever they are seeking hosting support like creating, editing or deleting e-mail accounts, adding databases etc. etc. I don't mind doing hosting support as I make a few bucks out of it each month.

The monthly fee is $9.95 and I use NameCheap for domain registrations (just over $10 per year per domain - for .com sites)
