Spookie
From the Wall Street Journal WSJ: If you could snap your fingers, and instantly make one change in your company, what would it be, and why?Mr. Kotick: I would have Call of Duty be an online subscription service tomorrow. When you think about what the audience's interests are and how you could really satisfy bigger audiences with more inspired, creative opportunities, I would love to see us have an online Call of Duty world. I think our players would just have so much of a more compelling experience. WSJ: Is that coming? Mr. Kotick: Hopefully. WSJ: Are the customers ready for it? Mr. Kotick: I think our audiences are clamoring for it. If you look at what they're playing on Xbox Live today, we've had 1.7 billion hours of multiplayer play on Live. I think we could do a lot more to really satisfy the interests of the customers. I think we could create so many things, and make the game even more fun to play. We haven't really had a chance to do that yet, so that would be my snap of the fingers. Lube up CoD fans! :D

Spookie
COD MMORPG? Gamers will just as easily move onto another game rather than pay $10 a month for a $60 game. As I said on twitter I imagine many more would pay the fee paving the way for everyone else to do it. See EA's VIP code everyone has adopted. Chasethebase Reporter Posted June 19, 2010 Reporter Share Posted June 19, 2010 Yeah but rather than the VIP code which is a one off thing, this is basically a monthly thing like WoW. Valve may be our last hopes with PC gaming. :(

Ayepecks
Did anyone read the Kotaku interview with him from a day or two before E3? He kept trying to make it sound like he's a gamer, a developer, etc. Seems like a tool who is trying to spin things so Activision will look better. Tharp Daddy
Now i may get flamed, but a CoD subscription COULD work, but they would have to treat it like WoW in that they have huge content updates on a frequent(ish) basis, they release map packs and such for free, etc. It would only be appealing if the $15 was the last thing you ever had to pay for the game, and everything else came at no extra charge. I think it would also be interesting if the $15 applies to ALL CoD games so that each year when the new title released you would keep getting new content for the new and old ones and not have to pay for a new subscription. Duality
If he sucks my balls I will think about playing it. He takes us for fools to pay to play. The problem is that the people like you or I who are smart enough to see what he is trying to do - are vastly outnumbered by the cretins who will tantrum until their mummy and daddy buy them a subscription. If they make it subscription based then it will work. They will make millions for it, and despite how much people complain - there will still be enough idiots playing it anyway to make it profitable :( MightyJordan 1 Share

Lamp0
Actually, he takes the general public for fools, which according to the MW2 sales, they are. what kind of silly attitude is this. Just because you didn't like it... Why is it that these threads always turn into "only babies and idiots buy and play call of duty" rants.
MightyJordan
what kind of silly attitude is this. Just because you didn't like it... Why is it that these threads always turn into "only babies and idiots buy and play call of duty" rants. I only said I couldn't like the multiplayer side. The kind of people that play it doesn't really help the game, a lot like Halo 3. And the reason these threads turn into anti-Call of Duty rants is because Activision, or more specifically, Bobby Kotick, is ruining the gaming industry with over-the-top retail prices, and excessive prices for DLC. Also, they are willing to side by the bad team that will brownnose them to stay on their good side (Treyarch) over the good team that actually wants free will (Infinity Ward). Plus, you saying that Bobby Kotick is "passionate about gaming" doesn't really help the argument, seeing as he wants to make all games retail at ?75 instead of ?50, and now he wants to turn Call of Duty into the next World of Warcraft, so he can have two huge cash cows and pocket even more money. Richard Hammond
Lose IWNET, give me dedicated servers, get rid of the hackers and bellends, stop charging 33% of what the game costs for recycled old maps, then we'll talk.

Why is it that these threads always turn into "only babies and idiots buy and play call of duty" rants. I don't think you quite understand the reasons for our ire. I don't deny that MW2 was a decent enough game - the sales figues alone are testament to that. But, quite frankly, you are an idiot if you believe that £12~ for recycled maps from previous games is an acceptable price point. Note that I am not saying that people that bought it are idiots (if you want to play it, fine by me) - but if you support those kind of prices for that kind of content, you really are part of the problem. You are getting taken advantage of, pure and simple.
