DirtyLarry Veteran Posted June 28, 2010 Veteran Share Posted June 28, 2010 Well I am actually pretty excited. Tonight I decided to see how L4D2 ran on my laptop, and I can actually run it at 1920 and get a pretty constant 30 fps, it will dip below 30 when a lot is going on screen, so I am opting for running it at 1300 something as when I do that I am getting on average around 80 FPS. My laptop is not that all bad, has a Core Duo 2 and is a custom HP that has a Nvidia 130M in it, but it is really not a gaming laptop so to speak, so I truly did not expect to be able to run it at a point where it would be decent, and it runs more than decent. I honestly just never knew it would perform decent enough for me to play games on it. I have played games on it, but just stuck to more casual type games as that is all I thought it would run well. I just now wish I did not wait so long to find this out. So this little revelation may mean I will be playing these games even more than usual. Just the whole mouse situation is not the best, using a trackpag while doable is also nowhere near ideal, so have to figure out the best approach with a mouse considering most of my laptop time is spent on my couch. Or, I can just stick to my gaming PC.
GreenMartian
..Civilisation.. ..is it worth getting? If you don't mind turn-based strategy that will make you think, and spend many sleepless nights, then hell yes. Just got it myself. I've played since the 1st installment back in the DOS days, but never actually owned the 4th (used to borrow from a friend's who, lucky for me, couldn't stand it :p)
LingeringSoul
get it anyways! I just might do that. It's 33% off right now, which is pretty darn good in my books. And I certainly don't mind supporting Valve. And if everybody else is playing it, then all the more reason to jump in :). My gaming PC is a lot more powerful than my MacBook Pro, but I'm considering going into Boot Camp just so that I can play this (among other games) in the comfort of my room before I call it a night. Thankfully, I have a Deathadder that I can hook up to my laptop, so no need to resort to the trackpad ;).

Ayepecks
Random question: does anyone know if there's a way to make the jump list (when you right click on the Steam icon in the system tray) alphabetical for the games you have installed?

If your on 7, right click the actual bar's icon, not the system tray's icon, they're alphabetical there.

MR_Candyman
I can't believe I never picked up L4D2 before. So good! Beat Hazard is a very good game too. Can't go wrong for the 3.70 I spent on it

Yusuf M. Veteran Posted June 28, 2010 Veteran Share Posted June 28, 2010 I highly recommend Dawn of War 2 Gold Edition for $20. Buy it if you're a fan of RTS games.
Sethos
I highly recommend Dawn of War 2 Gold Edition for $20. Buy it if you're a fan of RTS games. It's annoying they aren't selling them separately at the same discount, I wouldn't mind the expansion but I'm not paying for a game I already own. rajputwarrior
the THQ complete pack looks really tempting, sooo many games, so cheap.

It really is. I have two friends that are in the same boat. Hopefully they'll put the expansion on sale but that's doubtful.
MR_Candyman
the THQ complete pack looks really tempting, sooo many games, so cheap. ya, especially cheap since I see Metro 2033 is in there as well. Despite me already buying the Call of Duty pack and the 2K Games pack, I think I might need to pick up the THQ one as well. I think my gaming habit is going to be fed for a long time. And even if I don't like it, I've probably spent more on worse games that I've never touched, lol.
Razorwing
Sent you a friend invite. My full steam name is DirtyLarry531 for anyone else looking to add it for some L4D2, BFBC2, possibly TF2 and CS:S, thinking I may start playing the latter two games again as well. I tried adding, Steam says can't find you.

Yusuf M. Veteran Posted June 28, 2010 Veteran Share Posted June 28, 2010 [...] ^ That seems like a better offer, Considering it's only £6 more. In North America, the THQ Complete Pack costs 2.5 times as much as Dawn of War II Gold Edition ($49.99 USD vs. $19.99 USD). It's still a nice deal for those that want more games.
