+Mystic MVC Posted June 29, 2010 MVC Share Posted June 29, 2010 Of course TF2 goes on sale for even cheaper than it was the other day. A few days ago it was marked down to $13 and now it is down to $7, slightly frustrating that they would keep lowering a game like that instead of just having ONE sale. Kev1n
Also Commandos pack might be worth getting. Commandos 2 is one of the best games ever ;) Few months back I've finished my 6th or 7th playthrough. Yes it is. But I have a question, does it have widescreen support? I don't want the image to be stretched. And since my monitor is HD, how does it hold up with high resolutions? rajputwarrior
metro 2033 is the nicest looking game i have played so far and it brings my system to it's knees. i can play it maxed out (but only at 1440x900). That thq pack is worth every penny.
Lee G. Veteran Posted June 29, 2010 Veteran Share Posted June 29, 2010 Only noticeable sales today: GTA IV = $4.99 (Cheaper than the $7.50 Winter sale) Wow, that's a very good deal. On the UK Steam store GTA IV is £4.99 which is the same price it was during the winter sale, when I bought it. Nonetheless, £4.99 is still a good price for GTA IV. Nothing interests me today, which is a good thing.

Should bring back some good memories.
MightyJordan
Osmos is a really cool game. Yeah, I downloaded the demo, and I liked it, so for ?1.74, it's a good deal. :)
inferniac
I don't want the image to be stretched. And since my monitor is HD, how does it hold up with high resolutions? Can't really help you with that, I've been playing on my 1366x768 laptop with intel gma 4500. It added black borders on the sides so nothing was stretched. I think with Comm2's graphic style it should look ok in HD resolution :)

And since my monitor is HD, how does it hold up with high resolutions? Does your monitor have any kind of aspect ratio control setting? Most do these days and work well for games that don't have widescreen support.

I'm so glad I waited, because I was going to buy it over the past weekend. Now I've got it for $7 waiting for it to finish downloading and I'll give it my first go. Scirwode
So far my wallet's survived this sale, mostly because I bought Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2 as well as the Dragon Age pack during the EA Steam Sale :p . That said, I'm looking at King's Bounty and it looks interesting, can anyone tell me if it's a good game as it's going for a good deal. As for my steam name, it's Scirwode :p . I've L4D/L4D2, TF2 and CSS so maybe we should try to get all Neowin members from around the world to come into one server for a game. Of course, don't know how my 10MB connection can hold up, especially in Malaysia :p . Scirwode

They should be refunding the difference of games that have price changes on the sales within the past week. I would email them and ask. It can't hurt to ask and the most they can do is tell you no. And it's $6 different -- I'm a penny pincher, but com'n.

Every gaming forum and social site warn every potential Steam customer to not buy anything except Daily Deals until the last day of the sale. One's ignorance is the price to pay for not getting a better deal. :p Welcome to the world of internet shopping.

I have TF2, CS:S and I just got L4D2, but I only ever play on local servers. I'll add you as a friend (I have very few friends since I only installed Steam a month back), once I manage to login to Steam. For the past 2 days it's impossible for me to login during the day. Damn Steam servers. I managed to login when I got up to watch the Spain vs Protugal match at 3am local time, but anytime between 10am and 12am, it's practically impossible. Yup, on Unifi VIP10, but I've also got access to a 100MB connection which I'm exploiting from time to time :p . So far the latency is alright, but it could be better. Then again, this isn't TM's fault, it's more the fact our undersea cable is a bit dated compared to the rest of the world. I believe Google is laying fibre between South East Asia and Japan with the help of Axiata, TM, Maxis and GT Communications, but don't quote me on that. Give me a heads up when you adding me, I don't normally add just anyone :p . As for L4D2, I bought the 4 pack with my friends during the last Steam sale and we usually go to a person's house, stack up on coke and snacks and play to the next morning! We usually end our session at McD and have breakfast, but only on weekends though, we've got to work during weekdays  ! Do you usually play TF2 with Singaporeans on the Starhub servers? As they are the only servers that are usable :( . Scirwode

My line is only 1mbps. :pinch: I tried to get my friends to share the L4D2 4-pack with me, each only having to pay RM25, but no, they prefer to hang out and play at internet cafes. None of them buy original games anyway. My steam name is demonic_pope, btw. I'll add you later on. ;)

Then again, most StarHub servers have passwords, which is frustrating when you want to play and there is no free slot. I can agree with you on sharing, it's very hard to get people to buy original games here due to the fact piracy is still rampant here. They feel internet cafes is cheaper, then again L4D2 doesn't need a powerful computer to run. I'm using an Asus G60j (which is a gaming computer I admit but I also use it for my work), a friend uses a notebook I sold him, a HP Pavilion dv5000t (Nvidia GeForce Go 7400), another uses a Dell Inspiron 13 (ATi Mobility Radeon 4530) and the last uses a HP Pavilion dv6t (AMD Version, ATi Mobility Radeon 4330). All of them can run L4D2 just fine and they all cost below RM2500. They use it for work as well as play, and I don't think it's an excuse not to have a notebook these days, what with P1, Maxis, Celcom and DiGi all trying to sell mobile broadband while we all lepak at the local teh tarik stall. Besides, having a notebook means you can have LAN party's  . If you play at the Internet Cafe (which my brother seems to enjoy doing) you pay not only for the time on the computer, but petrol, food (if you're hungry) and waste time trying to wait until a computer is not used. If you're at home, someone asks you to go online and you just hop on in the comfort of your own chair (and my chair is comfortable :p ) and straight away game, with the fridge just a short distance away :shifty: . I hate it that games are so expensive, but at least now I can just buy online. Before, I was buying from Gamers Online to get cheap deals. Kev1n
Nah my friends have capable enough PCs to run L4D2. It's just that original games on a gamer's PC over here is quite a rare sight. Even the internet cafes here don't use original games. And 4 sessions in a cafe would cover the cost of getting L4D2 during the sale a few days back. I don't game much either. I just started again after a 3 or 4-year hiatus, and decided to get The Orange Box when it went on sale lat the beginning of the month. I can't afford many games, which is why this Steam sale feels so good. I'm not going to buy a full-priced game again. I'll just wait for the sales.
