Konstanov
Has anybody been able to use this yet? I made my account but every time I hit play I get a server error and redirected to the home page.
SimplySchizo
How could a service built up to be the next big thing as far as speed goes be so damn slow. The Registration process and site altogether in painfully slow. I'm getting 404 errors left and right. I get failure to process errors on site yet get confirmation notices in mail. lol
neufuse Veteran Posted June 24, 2010 Veteran Share Posted June 24, 2010 The service sucks, that's all I have to say.....
LOC Veteran Posted June 24, 2010 Veteran Share Posted June 24, 2010 I think the service is amazing. I signed up no problem once I got my founder's invite (though it wouldn't sign up through IE or Firefox right away for some reason). Launched the app, clicked on Dirt 2 and within 3 or 4 seconds I was literally in the game watching the intros and then playing it at max res (on my screen anyways, so it's a bit fuzzy compared to what an LCD or better rig could push out). Played Batman AS demo, loaded within 5 seconds. Unreal Tournament 3 demo, loaded practically instantly. I'm shocked it works so well to be honest. You can watch other people play their games live, which is awesome. Still, you have to not only buy the games, but rent the ability to use the games you buy. Not gonna bite just yet. I'll see when and if it's really worth it down the road, and when they can get support for WiFi in so I can stream to my TV or 360 (when it gets fixed). SimplySchizo
Doesn't support Chrome apparently... Edit: Firing her up now...
LOC Veteran Posted June 24, 2010 Veteran Share Posted June 24, 2010 It only supports IE and FF on Windows and FF and Safari on Mac. They are going to add support for Chrome, Opera etc soon apparently.
SimplySchizo
First attempt, took forever to connect to their service.. finally in, ok. I tried a Demo of Just Cause 2, and was disconnected from service before I could play it. Still haven't been to reconnect since.:pinch:

SimplySchizo
Everything's so blurry, and cursor has that Killzone2 heavy feel to it. This is off someone's brag reel in SC:C
Unrealistic
I signed up in about 3 minutes, installed the software and was playing Borderlands in less than 5 seconds. The graphics weren't as bad as some of the reviews made it out to be, but I am trying a cell shaded game. The one thing I did seem to notice was vertical and horizontal mouse movement seemed a bit laggy/shakey. That and I'm not sure if it it's just the beginning of Borderlands (never played it) but a lot of my shots seemed to miss even though the scope was dead on. I did get one head shot though, after leveling up, so it may have been that. Everything I looked at so far was instant though, which is something I want in PC gaming. Even my main rig annoys me at times, especially when it comes to installing a game and getting the settings set up. I'm too spoiled with the ease of console gaming now a days and don't have time to waste on configuration. That said though, I'm not comfortable buying games I don't technically own, especially for the price.
lalalawawawa
How is it? Its one expensive rental service. Nothing more than that. Just skip it and let it fail.
trag3dy
So let me get this straight... you have to buy the game, then rent it to be able to play it?
Dirk
I was just trying to give it a shot. It seems pretty good. I think their servers are getting hammered cause it kicked me off Borderlands about three minutes in. I am going to try again later but it looks pretty good so far. SimplySchizo
So let me get this straight... you have to buy the game, then rent it to be able to play it? You buy it @ retail. And ontop of that, you're asked to pay a monthly fee of about $5 USD. THEN I read somewhere that their terms states that games can be removed from their servers after 3 years. BYEBYE game you just paid retail for. Then I read somewhere about once you close your account, you're not allowed to reopen it. So if you're service ever gets cut due to insufficient funds or something on your end, you're practically screwed.
trag3dy
The whole idea just seems terribly pointless. It's like Steam... only you have to pay to use it. And the games aren't even playable in full detail from what it sounds like.

We can install and play it 10 years later if we choose to.

Unrealistic
I wanted to test it on my macbook pro, but it requires a wired connection. Kind of stupid if you ask me, since I'm connected at 108Mbps via Wireless N and I'm about 15 feet from the router. We should at least be given an option to use it anyway, and if it sucks, it sucks. Arbitrary restrictions are disappointing.

I'm not sure if you're trying to be sarcastic or what but Steam has already been around for 7ish years. So I think Steam's longevity shouldn't really be in question at this point... Anyways, I don't see this Onlive service making it.

SimplySchizo
Full games, just 30min demos. The good ones have long intros too, so it's more like 20mins minus 5-10mins of tutorials which brings you down to a whopping 10-15mins of action! Unless you skip them of course. This service isn't worth a cent. There's absolutely no incentive to keep it.
