Sethos
No, just the KZ2 lag :) So the terrible sluggish controls from Killzone 2 combined with horrible graphics in low resolution - You're right, sounds fantastic :)

My game saves are all there, and the game picks up no matter what device I am on. No installs, and I am still having a blast playing. I'd rather have the 10 minute install per game and have less lag, better graphics and the freedom to install mods if I like. Oh, and not pay a monthly fee for the convenience of doing that myself. Hedon
It's been fantastic so far indeed. What I found out to be pretty awesome....is that I am playing Batman Asylum at work on my Windows PC, on my iMac at home, and on my Macbook. For me, I would rather not have to install a game on my iPad, iMac, Windows PC, Notebook or TV and take a small hit in graphics and lose mods (something I don't get in consoles anyway) and have a single save file, then to have to install one game on all those devices and usb a game save around for each one. Monthly fee being waived would be nice, but then how would the service survive? I have it free for a year, so we will see how it goes. It is in dire need of more games. I am also waiting for the OnLive iPhone app. Unreal Tournament on my iPhone? Yeah, I'll take that :)
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted July 8, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted July 8, 2010 No, just the KZ2 lag :) At least the KZ2 lag was initially done intentionally, and then they patched to reduce it. Hedon
At least the KZ2 lag was initially done intentionally, and then they patched to reduce it. They did have a control patch (or 2), yes...for those that thought the control results were slow as molasses. People weren't having an issue with a lag from the time they pressed a button to the time the reaction was on the screen. Just that the resulting action was played out in slow motion. The people complaining were the COD twitchers. I got used to the controls in KZ2. Just had to do this  Drop in res, yes. Fun factor is still there! +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted July 8, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted July 8, 2010 Just had to do this  I really just do not understand where the market for this is going to come from... Cloud based game saving and those bells and whistles will come to consoles and possibly even Steam eventually leaving Onlive limp.
Hedon
Cloud based game saving and those bells and whistles will come to consoles and possibly even Steam eventually leaving Onlive limp. That would be awesome if we can play every console and steam game on every device out there so we can avoid a service like this. That would rock. Too bad I don't see neither of them doing this any time soon.

Sethos
Of course. How has your time been with OnLive btw? I assume not so good? Stop with that argument, it's not valid because you don't need to TRY a service that provides a streamed image of a game that renders it sluggish and extremely ugly. It's like watching someone getting kicked in the testicles, you don't need to try it to tell it hurts.

+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted July 8, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted July 8, 2010 Of course. How has your time been with OnLive btw? I assume not so good? With a capable PC, PS3, 360, PSP, DS and Wii I'd rather take a dump in a plastic bag than stream a game to my house. Aside from that opinion going on the proof from earlier, as I said earlier, this whole device/service has an identity crisis. Hardcore will try then laugh it off as a POS, and casuals are lucky to even have fast enough broadband for it. Maybe in 20 years when we can play with visuals that are actually worthy of being called PC visuals, there is no lag, and broadband isn't as spasticated in variation worldwide. Then why participate in an OnLive thread that you have no desire to use or offer? Never mind, I know why. I am glad I have a capable PC, PS3, 360, PSP, DS, Wii, GBA and OnLive gaming selection. Can't complain about that, I agree.

Because it's a discussion forum and it's perfectly valid to discuss both sides of the coin. No need to sit with the rose-tinted glasses on all the time. I will be trying OnLive when it's actually available around here and then I'll do a proper review of the service but it has done nothing or provides nothing that deserves or warrants recognition. Yet I will still voice my opinion and keep the service under the loop until it shuts down again which I believe is soon. Spookie 1 Share

I am glad I don't have rose colored glasses. But if I did, they must be different shades. I have now been told I have green (Xbox), Orange (OnLive) and Blue (PS) tinted glasses. I am losing track. Now I just need some Wii tint (pink?), and I will be set ;) I am testing it for the free year. If I don't like it, gone. Too bad you haven't liked that I have enjoyed my experience so far. Not sure why that gets you up in arms?
Spookie
Cloud based game saving and those bells and whistles will come to consoles and possibly even Steam eventually leaving Onlive limp. Steam already has cross platform cloud support for most of it's games. So it's up to publishers then if they would like to provide support for the Mac. At the moment I've got a friend who plays TF2 on his Mac at work then returns home and resumes play on the PC. With Steam "support" for the PS3 (see Gabe at Sony E3 conference) I wonder if that will be extended to the PS3 as well? Buy Portal 2 on the PS3 and resume play on the PC and/or Mac? Hardcore will try then laugh it off as a POS, and casuals are lucky to even have fast enough broadband for it. Let me correct you there. ANYONE would be lucky enough to have BB fast enough for it. In the UK the standard speed is what 2mb last year? From what I read on GAF you need 5mb for SD quality. The person who took the 1920 resolution Prince of Persia shots was on 16mb. 16 ****ing mb. God forbid you have a decent monitor with a large screen size as it's going to look like it's come from a youtube video ran through the mosaic filter in Photoshop a few times! Hedon
Actually, you have been able to cloud store game saves for years on PC..even without steam. AWBrian, you have to remember, the people posting are the HXC of hardcore in gaming. Casual gamers will enjoy this far more than people on neowin. I fall under both categories, and Neowin (have for years). I just have appreciated the portability of this option. Doesn't mean I will stop gaming on my other platforms, that is for sure. +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted July 8, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted July 8, 2010 Name any casual gamer you know who has heard of this service, then name the casual gamer who has the BB speed adequate enough for this service and then name the casual gamer who is willing to pay through the arse for this service. Pretty much. A casual gamer buys something they stick into their TV. Half of them probably don't even understand the term streaming, nor could be bothered with all the hassle due to bandwidth sharing around the house and service outages. A device plugged into your TV goes on and off and works the same every time. That's why I keep saying this product has an identity crisis and no real market to lap it up in the masses. And yeah as for your BB remark, I'm on 4mb just now in the UK. Highest I can get.
Hedon
25mb here at my home in Wisconsin, USA. That is the highest my local provider offers me. No FIOS in my area yet, though it's in Milwaukee (70 miles from my city).
