How much would you pay for mp3?

Recommended Posts

Personally, I would only pay around $.50 a song. Alos that woul not be streamed but downloaded for me to put on a player as well. That's about $6.00 a CD (14 songs) that would be so much to pure profit for the record companies.

Thoughts?

Yes but I do have conscious about stealing, regardless of how easy it is to do/get away with. I have no trouble paying for something as long as it is worth the money. Right now I have a three song rule... as long as I liek three songs on a cd, then it was an ok purchase. Pretty pathetic, huh? I seldome like more than that per cd. So give me a realistic price alternative, I would be happy to fork it over.

The day they make it impossible to get free music is the day I stop listening to music. It's not important enough to me...

Now movies on the other hand, I'll pay all day long for those.

I'd pay a dollar. Maybe 1.50 for a true single thats not on an album.

For instance a album with 10 songs should be 10 dollars, but if the artist releases a one of a kind rare single not available on an album then I'd pay a little more.

i will never buy one song, no point in doing that, if i'm after just one song, i will just download it honestly.

if there's 2 or more tracks that i like in an album, or i just like the artist, i'll buy the album.

$9.90 is what i'd pay for an album thru iTMS. anything more than that, i'll just go to HMV and buy the CD.

I still don't consider digital media to be an actual consumer good. Basically, all you're buying is a liscence to have that music. Seeing as how you could hear that music on the radio as well ... I still don't think mp3s are worth much more than a dime a dozen. At least with a CD you're getting some real physical property, although I do wish the prices would go down on those.

I'd pay nothing for an mp3, but if the band was kickass then i would go out and buy the cd, but i would never pay for an Mp3 because i wouldn't know if the quality is good or not. The only reason i buy cd's is cause on 56k and it can be quite a task to get the album online even with Kazaa.

I would NEVER pay for an mp3. I would however pay for a FLAC/WMA Lossless/Monkey's Audio file. I would only buy something if it is the exact same as the song off of the CD....Unless I was buying a speech or something, in which case a mp3 would suffice.

I would not pay a dime for an mp3.

If the singer/band has an album worth buying then i will pay for it. I would much rather skip the middle man (record industry/labels) and give the money directlt to the artist...

$0.00! Screw RIAA and all them other bitchy organizations. CD's cost way to much in the store thats why I havent bought a CD since about 97 when I first got my 2X burner. I work at a store that sells CDs. Granted we sell CDs for $12.95 but we pay almost always around $11.90 for each CD and that price is buying in bulk.

I should be paid $0.50 for each MP3 I download.

I'm supporting the band, isn't that what they want? Oh, right, it's not support that bands want -- it's money.

I would pay up to $1.99 a song, however, I usually like the cover and liner notes of a cd. Soooo. I probably won't download and buy a song as much as the music companies hope for.

I would be more willing to pay a set fee of $19.99 a month for unlimited streaming (higher than fm-radio quality sound) of all songs, from all music cds that are out. And I mean all not just the "semi-current" with a few "current" cd albums.

I buy cds. But I am not willing to spend $17.99 a cd, for a new group that only has 1 hit song, or I never heard of. I would like to hear them before I buy.

But I would really prefer more "imported" artists to expand my music horizons. But Im guessing the music companies will never do this.

Perhaps, some specials such as if you like a cd, artist or song, you can get a discount on the cd, artist or song.

That's my take on it. But I don't think this will happen since the RIAA probably don't believe this is a viable business model?

i buy the CD, would not pay for some lossy crap, maybe a lossless file, but then you don't really own the CD and the booklet... so no
