What is WITH some of the people that float around on these forums? Why do they always have to attack someone when they say something that may not be entirely accurate. If the person we're demanding that it was the truth and/or this was a forum for technical support then that would be a little bit different, but still, what's with all this fighting?

I don't know how to word this properly, I'm running on 2 hours sleep, it just ****es me off when I see so much mindless bickering. It's cool to point someone out with their wrong but all this condesending BS is pointless.

I had several complaints about this thread about being over colourful with its adjectives describing a few things as "gay". I realise you guys don't mean anything by it but please realise that with the amount of traffic we recieve they're is a possibility that you could cause offence so please bear this in mind in future.

*stares in Phil Gates's Direction*

I don't feel any further action is warrented at this time but i will be watching this thread closely.

Thanks

I would like to see the following in a later Windows version:

* A better toolbar system other than the "toolbars"

I hate the fact that my icons aren't centered in my toolbars e.g:

I create a "My Games" toolbar and then the icons are stuck to the left-top corner of the toolbar - these should be more centered - this is when the toolbar is horizontal, but when they are vertical it's impossible to eliminate the "My Games" title of the toolbar. Annoying. (Atleast it is for me)

I'm a sucker for eyecandy ;)

bye,

Fonzie

heres's some of the features i'dd like to see in xp in the future...some arent realistic but oh well

-free integrated ms office developer

-lotsa kick ass 3D games

-support for up to 5000 gigs of ram (ya thats alot)

-support for up to 10 processors

-new buttons and more features for programs such as notepad, regedit, pbrush

-a paint brush plus application that has LOTTTTTTS of more features compared to the old fashioned pbrush

-chat program integrated with IE (not like the MSN Messenger one included) and able to connect to irc servers and MSN.com java chat servers

-antivirus protection

-able to play music in a folder without opening a program such as WMP or winamp

-free hardware :D

-a program to knock mac users offline/crash mac users

-a desktop without borders (integrate videos, music etc right into the background, crazy but handy at times)

-easier and FASTER cd burning

-protection against hackers

thats all i can think right now

-Complete the new visual style. There are still a few bits which looks like that have come from Windows 2000 which aint all bad but even so....oh yeah and mostly the icons annoy me. its a small thing to complain about but a load of the standard windows ones which appear all over your system are from Windows 95 and 3.11 which just look plain ugly in there 4 colours -:devious:

-I agree with the person who said make Windows Update a separate program. Also it should tell you before you install the updates if you are going to need to reboot or not cos its annoying. 50% nee a reboot and 50% don?t and you don?t know which it will be until the end.

-I like Windows Messenger but when I have Outlook, MSN Explorer, or Ie open it wont let me close it...this is just stupid!!!

-Easier to report bugs to Microsoft. I know they?d get bombarded but there should but just some shortcut to bug-report like there is in the beta version.

-Visual Style SDK. They knew full well it would take ppl only a few days...hours...hell maybe even minutes to make their own themes so why not just give us the SDK in the first place....its yet another thing which may not appeal to some but will to lots and make them happy....which should be the aim.

-Windows Media Player should come with the DVD Decoder so you don?t have to install your 3rd party one first because they are often annoying

AND FINALLY FOR NOW....

-Stop moaning about the Product activation!!! - Its painless you just click a button and if your not a pirate then you shouldn?t be complaining...if you are then its ppl like you who have made Ms implement this in the first place!!!! - However there is one little thing with it that could be nicer.....integrate the Office and Windows 1....they sue the same system and it would be easier to activate them together then get 2 programs giving annoying messages while you set up your modem or network

  • 2 weeks later...

i'd like to see an uninstaller that tracked the shortcuts i make to programs which are supported by windows's add/remove program utility. say i create a custom shortcut to quake3 buried deep within nested folders on my harddrive. if i uninstall quake3 that shortcut should be gone. nothing major, just better housekeeping IMO.

*Multi user suport.

*NT kernal so it doesn't DIE 8 times a day.

*Luna GUI, looks are a must with me.

*Cleartype once again looks cool.

*Built in support for cams. The Windows drivers work beter than logitechs' on my box.

*32 biy icons on taskbar is just awsome.

The NT Kernel (not Kernal) is already there dude. Windows XP Pro is Windows 2000 dressed nicely and modified to behave better.

I agree. I group programs in the start menu, and when I remove them the shortcuts remain, because they aren't in the exact same dir.

Because 64-bit is faster and more efficient than 32-bit. 64-bit computing will EVENTUALLY be the mainstream, so at least MS needs to create an OS that supports 64-bit computers but can still run on 32-bit computers as well. Blackcomb may have a new 64-bit kernel anyway.

Well, aside from the fact that they did create Windows XP 64-Bit, it's not faster at all. Right now, you still have to emulate all of your 32 bit code, and benchmarks say that the Itanium processor is actually worse at that than doing it natively. The only reason 64 bit is a selling point is because of its increased RAM limits, up to 16 gigabytes, rather than 32 bit's 4 gigs. I just don't see 64-bit in the near future at all. Why would anyone want to run the tens of thousands of Windows applications slower than they do now for no noticable benefits?

I heard that AMD's 64-Bit Proccessor will nativly run 32-Bit applications. THeywere using this as the main point over intel.

That would then mean you can do your normal upgrades to the 64-Bit chip but no need to upgrade all your software yet. Still run your 32bit proggies and as new releases come out you can then upgrade to the 64Bit versions.

So in actuall fact running 64Bit XP on an 64Bit Itanium would actually be worse then a 32Bit P4 cause of emulation and NOT cause of the 64Bit part. It would run quite well on AMD's 64Bit if I am right about ability to run 32Bit natively.

I just have a few things to say like,LINUX,BeOS,OSX is better, looks better, perform better, better multitasking, more power, they know how to code :) ok whos left? Winblows Xplode like all other windows versions is a piece of crap, end of story.Just try the other ones for 4-6 hours then go back to Winblows "LOL" do microsoft know what multitasking means? LOL

When you do try the other alternatives, wich deserves the shared 1place,come back to windows, its like drivin a T-Ford.Yes,i have tried them all(Win95-XP),im gonna support APPLE,cause thats where the brains are. :)

Support Apple,i wish they did released a version for pc,that would kill Microsoft for good :)

All software that comes with my new MAC,that comes from microsoft, will go out the window...

At what point was this about wich is a better OS?

As far as I can read it was about what people wanted to see come to windows in the future....

So be contructive and place some features you want to see. Maybe a good start is to suggest all the good points of the other OS's.

As far as one being better than the other I disagree. Nor am I saying that any are better than the others. As with everything each and everyone has its good points and bad points. Each is better at one thing than another and also the purpose of what its used for also affects this.

If you do Graphic Design Day in and day out I would say use a mac. If you need a PDA but only need it for organiser type tasks, use PalmOS or if you want full internet, graphics, games, etc I reccomend PocketPC. Then if you want to run a lean and mean box used primaraly for chat, internet and communication type tasks, use Linux. As you can see each and every one has a use for a particular person.

Stop bitching about it. No one wants to hear it. Especially in a thread that has NOTHING to do with which is better.

i'dd like to see something like M$ Bob, but as a program for kiddies up to the age 13 so that they cant go on the net n pretend their hackers n register on sites/email accounts pretending theyre adults, and so that they wont be able to screw up windows lol

My blood sugar levels are pretty low,i get a bit sour then :)

But i do have problems with their products, like most people i know who did use windows, but are changing to the other alternatives because of negative experiances with ms software. Many did get a lot of work ruined because of it.

If you do have high demands on performance, power, stability(Graphics,Movies,Music) you must, really. :)
