Raa
Prices go up. Sales go down. "MUST BE PIRACY!!" OMG QQ  Now it's second hand video games. What will they blame it on next. Yeah right, the PC gaming industry is the only one in decline, cut me a break.
Hedon
20 million copies of MW2 sold, over 4 million pirated. That is almost 25 million people that wanted this "short" game...which I have 300 hours in.

Emn1ty
atta boy. MW2 is worth every penny. Chromehounds was worth every penny. Every cent I spent on the five copies I bought for myself and friends. Every second of the 800+ hours I put in. And Sega shut the servers down. MW2 doesn't even touch the quality of Chromehounds IMO. At least not multiplayer wise. That being said, I see far more returned copies of MW2 than I ever saw of CoD4.
bjoswald
When developers stop making ****ty games more people will spend their money on them. The same goes with the movies lately.
thechronic
Some analysts are suggesting the use of initiatives, such as EA?s Online Pass, will help to curb used game sales. Greedy ****s
The Teej
But do these figures also take into account the sales gone through digital distribution services such as PSN, XBLA, WiiWare and Steam? I can imagine Steam would rack up a fair few million on it's own.
Emn1ty
When developers stop making ****ty games more people will spend their money on them. The same goes with the movies lately. I still don't really believe this. Only the minor legacy/hardcore gamer group really sits on games, researches them, etc. As long as the advertising is big the game usually sells (Halo 2, MW2). That or if the first title did any sort of business they usually get a good following for round two. Bad games still don't sell, though. A game gets a bad review and most people won't buy it. But reviews are part of that marketing and honestly I think reviewers have been far too generous in their 9's and 10's, or in some cases even 11's. The number system should be scrapped all together and re-evaluated. Perhaps a Trash < Bargain Bin < Used > New Buy > Pre-Order ranking with sub-set rankings based on graphics, art direction, gameplay, bugs and then multiplayer. Overall the industry just needs to be more honest with itself. Very few games these days actually push the limits of anything. Dev cycles that used to be 4-7 years have quickly become 1-4 year projects. Rather than focusing on quality the gaming industry has turned to quantity, using their inflated budgets to get more people in and get the job done faster (rather than get more people in and get MORE done in the same amount of time). Jason S. Global Moderator Posted June 29, 2010 Global Moderator Share Posted June 29, 2010 there are very very few games that i believe are worth $50-60. very very few. I paid $10 for Mass Effect and $25 for Mass Effect 2. those two games are great examples for which i would pay $50. how is it that just about every game released on consoles are $60 when theyre downright terrible? when will companies realize that constantly increasing prices means more people look to used games or piracy. it's so very simple. lower the freakin prices. Valve/Steam has the right idea - huge summer sale with awesome games: that sells me. bought Bioshock 2 for $15 last week. i'd never pay $50 for that game.
