BioShock 2 was not

Take-Two CEO Ben Feder has admitted that BioShock 2 wasn?t the smash it should have been.

?It was ultimately successful, but not hugely successful,? he said, talking to VentureBeat at E3. ?We are also looking forward to other hits coming this year.?

Feder added, though, that the game had made money.

?BioShock 2 is profitable for the company and is a great success. The franchise is viable and has a lasting impact on consumers,? he said.

The exec pointed towards a lack of ?surprise? as a reason for the relative flop.

?The surprise factor is always going to be there,? he said. ?Sometimes they work for you and sometimes they work against you. Our goal is to have them work for us. More often than not. We are in the business of creating huge franchises and launching hits.?

BioShock 2 released on February 9 for 360, PS3 and PC. The 360 version scored 562,900 sales in the US in its launch month, while the PC and PS3 versions failed to chart.

Take-Two said at the beginning of March that more than 3 million units of the title had shipped to retailers.

Always said they should have moved on after the original.

Bioshock - I couldn't put it down, and had to finish it over the course of a weekend.

Bioshock 2 - I started playing, then got distracted and haven't gone back to it yet. Pretty much sums up the difference between the two for me.

Yup although, I got distracted and didn't buy the sequel.

I didn't play the second one. The original was brilliant and I didn't want number two to bring down the overall feel.

I look forward to hearing about their future titles, away from the Bioshock series.

Never played to be honest. #1 was near on perfect to a game as you will ever get. I guess some part of me didn't want to ruin that experience by playing the failure that is usually the sequel.

I didn't really like BioShock so when I read about what was going on in BioShock 2 I thought it could be better. Got it and played it, probably within 5 days I sold it back, still didn't give me that 'hook' I needed.

I got distracted with Bioshock 2 and only just got back around to it a last week and finished it last weekend. To be honest I enjoyed what I had left of it but yeah, it wasn't hugely spectacular by any means.

Bio 1 was awesome. Bio 2 was good.. then it kinda died off at the end. Although as a fan, I couldn't stop playing both.

I remember playing the beta at CES2010, but it honestly was a disappointment to me. The first was good at the beginning, but the game got really long and boring near the end.

also, the ending lame.. Bio 1's ending was epic.

Problem with Bioshock 2 is they tried to turn it in to a full blown shooter which never would have suited the game or worked with the Mechanics. It lost all the suspense and wasn't a great deal of fun.

I still haven't touched Bioshock 2 yet, but my sister felt the same way as a lot of people here. She loved the first game, which is rare for a first-person shooter. However, she played Bioshock 2 for a few hours and then never touched it again. Given the overall reception that the game has received, I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to playing it. At any rate, it's quite low on my list.

I really wanted Bioshock 2 to be good, but I played part of it at a friend's at college and it just seemed to be much blander than the original. It didn't seem like a bad game by any means, it just felt slightly above mediocre. I have to say, the whole "playing as a Big Daddy" thing wasn't really that great, either.

I think I'm the only one who thinks Bioshock would've been perfect for a prequel or sequel. But, IMO, they missed so many amazing opportunities on what to do with the story. I mean, playing as a Big Daddy is the best you can do for a sequel?

this ****es me off so much. Its nothing like UFO Defense, it shouldn't even be called XCOM. That series went to **** after Terror from the Deep.

Bioshock 2 wasn't horrible but trying to follow up such a unique GOTY is tough in its own right. I enjoyed the game but it isn't something I would go back and play through like the original. It didn't have any "aha, wow, or huge surprise" factors to it but I enjoyed the gameplay for what it was.

I really liked Bioshock 1 and thought it was an amazing game, but I rarely buy sequels because they are hardly ever better, seems to be the case with most of the posts here.

I love the first one, great game. The second felt like the first one as far as the game play goes, but lacked the story line, and didn't add anything new. Played through it once, don't think I will ever again, glad I just rented it.
