+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted June 30, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted June 30, 2010 Not bad, I wonder if the GameStop stores in the UK will have a similar offer soon.
name in use
I went to trade in my PS3 2 days before this (doesn't read discs, so I bought a slim a few days prior) and was told by the manager to come back the first day this started. If he was on here, I'd +1 his rep. :)
Shadrack
$200 is a really good deal if you are looking to upgrade to "slim" or get a 360.
jerzdawg
hmm.. this is very tempting. Anyone want to post the advantages of slim vs old 40 gig ps3? I know of 2: Bigger HD my receiver will now light up a pretty blue when playing the HD codecs ( :woot: - almost worth the $100 right there..) Also, does anyone know if this will effect my PSN "share account"? +1 to AB

You shouldn't need to re-download anything if you back up your old PS3 to an external hard drive before taking it in. Other pluses are just quieter/cooler and it runs off a lot less power. It as you already stated can now bitstream HD audio, and it also has Bravia Sync. All I can think of just now. edit: lol obvious other advantages are 120GB vs 40GB and a smaller console

I have a new Sony LCD that has wifi built into it, so that feature might come in handy. Thanks!
Ayepecks
Source: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=399850 Decent for a fat to slim upgrade? Yup. And with the Edge card you get an additional 10%. So you could feasibly get it by trading in an old PS3 and a few other things.
Jimmy0
Damn, if they did this in the UK I would be very tempted. I am getting tired of my phat sounding like a jet engine!
+Mystic MVC Posted July 1, 2010 MVC Share Posted July 1, 2010 Not bad ,just so so Ha ha ha, are you kidding? $200 for a fat PS3 this late in the console's lifespan is pretty amazing. Think, if you had a PS3 that was starting to break, you could trade it in for $200 at this point, trade in a few games, and get a new slim system for nothing.
