rossonthenet
Yesterday i installed Jetaudio. I noticed during installation that it replaced codecs and installed others. Ever since this, my MP3s have been playing slower than normal. They start at the correct speed, and then you hear a tiny change in the speed of play (0.5 secs or so) - its very annoying, as all my songs are now playing slightly slower than they should. I reinstalled WMP9 this morning, as well as the codec pack from windows media (6.4+ pack) - but the problem is still there. Weird thing is, if i play the MP3 files in Jetaudio, they work fine - they play at the normal speed, so it must be a problem with WMP9. Any ideas? I don't want to reformat just to get my files to play at the normal speed.
mAcOdIn Veteran Posted July 12, 2003 Veteran Share Posted July 12, 2003 IN WMP9 go to view, enhancements, play speed settings and ensure the slider is at 1.
rossonthenet
IN WMP9 go to view, enhancements, play speed settings and ensure the slider is at 1.0 Slider is always at 1, on normal speed. I can confirm that this bug only happens with MP3 files, not with .wma files that play normal with the wma 9 codec :) (ie, files i've copied onto computer). So, its an MP3 problem.. with the MPEG Audio Layer-3 codec.

mAcOdIn Veteran Posted July 12, 2003 Veteran Share Posted July 12, 2003 Huh. Ok got another thing for you to try. Go to your control panel, "sounds and audio devices", hardware tab. Then scroll down till you get to the audio codecs and choose properties. Then choose the properties page in the new window. There should be a list of audio codecs on your system. If you have more than one mp3 audio codec Try double clicking it and choosing do not use this codec. I only have the fraunheuser(SP?) mp3 codec, so if you have more than one try keeping the fraunheuser codec the only mp3 codec enabled. Edit: Oh cool. Glad to see you got it worked out.
