Firmware Upgrade to XBOX?

Recommended Posts

I have a couple of questions for whomever can help me.

1. Is it possible for M$ to release a firmware update that would block the use of Mod-Chips/exploits?

2. If question 1. is possible, how would M$ go about releasing the firmware update?...they couldn't do it only over XBOX Live because i would guess 50% or more of XBOX users don't have Live...and that leads me to question 3.

3. Would if be possible for M$ to work with game makers to include the new firmware update into games being released so that the firmware gets updated when you try to play a new game?

Thank you for any information...curiosity never killed the cat so i've been told... :p

good idea there, release the firmware update and get it to install with a game. like many pc games install the latest version of dx if u do not have it.

Well is possible for them to deliver the firmware upgrades in both the ways, but if they are doing it or not is a whole different question.

I may be wrong, but I don't think firware updates are possible, seeing as how you need to make solder some spots inside your Xbox if you want to flash the TSOP with a custom BIOS.. I'm guessing it would be the same if Microsoft wanted to update it.

The dash software can be updated, the firmware can't afaik. This won't effect chips with switches because you can turn them totally off. But of course they could always program something I imagine. Like altering the dash to look for a F: drive, that'd be a sure fire way to know if you've changed HD's. Stuff like that. Thing is though, they'll always be a way around it.

 i want to mod my xbox...but i am afraid of messing everything up. I'll wait for the solder-less chips i guess. Does anyone know if it possible to get onto Live (without telling me how...*hint* *hint* i don't want to know how, just if it's possible) without paying for it? Thanks for the info.
