jackwanders
I have one computer (powerbook) that has a wireless internet connection. If I ran a crossover ethernet cable between the powerbook and my desktop PC (no internet connection) would it be possible to share the powerbook's internet connect between both computers? Please let me know if I can do this, and if there are any special steps I would need to take to make it work. Thanks.
rezza Veteran Posted July 12, 2003 Veteran Share Posted July 12, 2003 can the powerbook share the connection using dhcp? if so, then the windows box will get a net connection no problem. i'm not sure how you'd go about setting the powerbook up as a dhcp server, though... my mac experience is pitifully small. cjbeckwith
my mac experience is pitifully small. Same here but rezza is correct in the assumption that if you can set up internet connection sharing on the Mac, or bridge the wireless and ethernet connection in the system, you should be able to connect the other computer with no problem. All the crossover cable is doing is acting like a hub or switch, without the switch involved.
