thor777_au
Hello everyone... Ive been a fan for a long tiime now. What do you guys think of this show? would you see it as viable as a movie franchise after season 7 has finished (if they dont go for a season 8)? Are you looking forward to Atlantis (the proposed spin-off) Why dont you like it? (if you in-fact dont like) and why do you feel it isnt so popular as say "star trek" (tos-tng-ds9)? Cheers. MR_Candyman
I quite like the show actually, it's gotten a little stale lately though as they can't seem to make any "new" adventures. It's still fun to watch and I thoroughly enjoy it. I never heard about this Atlantis, but I hop eit'll be good. i think the best thing in SG-1 is the casting. Everybody just seems to fit perfectly

Homie
yeah, they shoulda left Jonas in and just make it a 5 member team. Jonas kept it fresh and made it feel like we actualy got somewhere. But now were back to the old formula, and with the episode guide, theres no mention of Atlantis anywhere.. maybe we'll actualy accomplish something in season 15.. hahaha.. right. Edit: Its not as popular because it doesnt feel as epic as startrek. The movie kinda did, but the TV show feels like any other high cost scifi show, just this one hasnt been cancled yet. I wish Firefly would come back, or at least its director (from buffy and angel fame) would maybe direct Enterprise... that would be something. Riz360
love stargate, great show great characters...but stopped watching just as Daniel Jackson came back, not coz I dont like him, coz it went down hill My best episode every would have to be "URGO" or that one where O'Niell and T'ealc (?) are in a time loop
Blaise Veteran Posted July 13, 2003 Veteran Share Posted July 13, 2003 I was disappointed with the formula way the movie was made and with the lead characters, and I was seriously looking forward too it. The show..I don't know, maybe I'm just getting too old, Its like a lot of theses type shows, you know exactly whats going to happen, you can picture the screen writer sitting in a chair with his/her plot wheel. It was such a cool concept too..oh well. = ;)
Wolvereen
I really like the direction of the show overall, it just feels like most of the episodes are rushed. You will have story build up going tothe last minute, with everythign being resolved RIGHT before the credits. SOmetimes it jsut feels like it needs to be edited or give 90 minutes instead of 1 hour.... I agree though with what someone said earlier about sci-fi shows in general. Most tend to fall into an episodic pit. My favorite episodes of SG1 are the ones with a massive Gu'old (sp?) invasion or some death defying mission that had to be split over 2-3 or more episodes.... SOmetimes I wish they'd just pick up from where it left off in the last... IMO thats what X-Files did so well. YOu had the episodic "1-off" episodes, put they had woven into them the larger conspiracy theory ideas that permiated the enitre show. The whole idea of the "conspiracy theory" is what kept the show together as whole.... Anyways, here's hoping that SG1 is around for a while longer (Sci-Fi seems to like it) and that the SG1 mod for UT2K3 gets finished sometime this century! Elliott
Love SG-1. I watch it every Monday and Friday, even if it's a repeat. O'Neil has to be one of the funniest character, and I actually like Daniel Jackson more than Jonas. Jonas just doesn't have that sort of humor that made Jackson so good. And I have to agree with Lucifer, about the one where O'Neil and Teal'c are in a time loop. They played golf through the stargate. :p

Delsphynx
Actually I really, really like the show - I always make it a point to watch. I think my favorite is O'Neil (Richard Dean Anderson) - that guy is such an awesome actor and his get-to-the-point humor I think really adds to it. It I think there have been some awesome story lines - the Replicators are certainly one of the coolest "villains" ever...
swiste
I also am a fan of the show, I think that it is very well written and the cast seems to work great together. It is a more realistic type of sci-fi, and the story lines are always interesting. Does anyone know anything about this suppossed spin-off, I haven't heard anything about a spinoff either until it was mentioned in this thread. Also, I wish this show would get some awards, Andromeda has been getting many awards and it just keeps getting harder and harder to understand, I think Stargate is much better. I would also love to see another movie, If the SG-1 cast had played their caracters in the movie, I think that the original Stargate movie would have come off a lot better too. My favorite character has to be O'Neil, and you gotta love the Asguard and all this talk about the ancients, can't wait to see if they find the "lost city of the ancients" <---would this be "Atlantis"? Homie
Spoilers: ]http://www.sg1archive.com/s7.shtmlThis is a copy of the official list of episodes in season 7, the current season. Unless ressurection ends the current series or starts the movie, I doubt Atlantis will be after season 7. Maybe after season 8.

DsnBehind
I like it because it has Michael Shanks in it. (Plus it's a good show. But Michael makes it better 'cuz he's cute in glasses.)
QuarterSwede
The movie was more well written (of course, bigger budget) and some of the episodes are very stale. I agree with however said they should do what the X-Files did and make the episodes an on going story and have some off shoots. Some of the stories are fascinating but in all seem rushed near the end (last 10min). The acting could be a heck of a lot better, although it is a TV show and Richard Dean Anderson is in it. Overall, it's ok to watch. Definetly not one of my favorites though.
FudgeMonkey
I like the show, but... the characters stories are all the same Ti'uk (yes i know the spelling  ) moody guy, if he suspects someone from the start, it's always them O'Neal, befriends a boy\alien\woman. boy\alien\woman is not what they appear to be boy\alien\woman saves the team, maybe dying as a result. otherwise, mr military do everything by the book, until he chooses not to lol, one or the other please. Carter befriends a man\alien, instant attraction, flirt whole episode man\alien has to leave atthe end - or - she has some wonderfully technical plan to solve the problem at hand, everyone ignores her, she proves them wrong showing that women are great, yay ;) Jackson - oh FFS he should have died in the film, please, I'm not even gonna go into his character. Ok if i must..... Whinge, moan, whinge, moan..... repeat until done (that's him not me) ok as i say I actually like the program but i think that's just due to the fact that it's on every day at dinner time ;) It just get's on my nerves how every episode the characters are so predictable. [Edit] oh & BTW last i saw of Jackson he was some floaty light being, he's come back??? now i thought getting rid of him was a stroke of Genius but they swapped him with that, "oh btw i'm an alien that's only slightly different to humans so if there's a situation we can't get out of, i'll magically be able to rescue us all with my breathe underwater\special blood\keen eyesight\superior knowledge" <----(delete where applicable) these writers must be on crack
macster
I really hope they can make a second movie with a less predictable plot ;)
thor777_au
Thank's guys for responding to my post. Spoliers below: Atlantis (the proposed spin-off) will be set up throughout season 7 (check out "fallen/homecoming" "heroes" pt 1/2, and the "lost city part 1 and 2", and also "evolution" 1/2 possibly). In the season 7 Finale, Anubis (pseudo ancient) invades earth with the full force of his fleet (about time, he has been snickering to do this since "summit/last stand") and general hammond is forced to step down, but is offered a new command, someting more important. im guessing its either the command of the "alpha site/beta site" or some other command. any one else want more info, please ask. In my opinion, and the reason I asked this thread is because I really like this show, and always want to know why other people like it, or dislike it. cheers everyone. discuss...
