Sethos
Just a shame the game is pretty mediocre.
Ironman273
The extent of the jitter on the Wii is down to the way it tracks, just two infrared lights. Heck people have used candles with a Wiimote. It's not that advanced at all. I don't foresee myself holding out my arm, all the PS Eye needs to see is where the large glowing orb is, essentially why the tech was built on a large glowing ball, it's not exactly hard to find in an everyday environment and the size of it from the camera helps project distance. I hope I should be playing sitting on the couch with my right hand resting on my thigh and just my wrist moving around. The looks of this can be compared to the Wii as much as people want, but the tech is far from the same. I'm not even talking about the Wii, forget the Wii for now. Look at the video of an early RTS you posted on the first page. Look at the blue crosshair he's using. It's jittering like crazy. The circles he draws are very rough, as are the movement lines. It's either going to be precise, which will translate every little hand movement, or it won't and it'll be smooth.

Why not look at a newer tech demo from E3 2010.... No jitter and it looks smooth. http://uk.ps3.ign.co...id=m8di1ptvoiw2

That being said, that demo is more about broader motions. An RTS will have infantry next to tanks and you'll want to select the infantry to go one way and the tanks another. All I'm saying is that the more precise you make the device, the more shaking will happen because that's what happens to your hands. Do this: Sit down and put your hand like you're holding a controller. Now move your thumbs slowly in very precise motions. Not a big deal. Now hold your hand like your holding a Move controller. Make similar slow movements with your wrist. Notice how much more tense your hand/wrist gets with those motions.

That's the thing though, it's not going to be similar to using an analog stick, nor is it going to be similar to using the Wii. Everyone will need hands on themselves, but with higher precision and accuracy comes less need for a lot of movement on the user end to aid poor detection/limited technology on the receiving end. And yeah okay no one likes the IGN guy, but I only posted it for the tech to be shown....

Show me one demo where the Move is not used in similar fashion to the Wii. Everything I've seen so far could be functionally replaced with the Wii. Sure, the Move may be more precise and track better, etc., but the function of holding a stick-like device in space is what the Wii did first. As for the hands on, absolutely. Their control method may be totally different. We don't know that yet. Everything here is conjecture, but then again, most discussions before release are just that. Hedon
I see no reason to use Move (or any motion controller) in a game that is better suited for a controller, including RUSE, SOCOM4, etc. I just don't see the point. Why sit on a couch only to wave your hands around when you could very easily (and more precisely) use a controller (and in the case of PS3, SIXAXIS if you want) with less lag. Too each their own I guess.
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted July 16, 2010 Author Subscriber² Share Posted July 16, 2010 You two need to watch more videos of things like Socom and other games being played, there is no waving around or anything else :/ I'll await a demo of RUSE being used with Move, we're not going anywhere else till it surfaces. If a game this late into it's development, and which has been delayed once already iirc decides to bolt on Move support shows me that it's lacking on it's own merits. If it was a solid RTS and so on, adding motion control wouldn't be a thought in the devs mind I'd say. Honestly why hold up release just to tack it on if you don't want to take advantage of the new marketing having it brings to your game?
