Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker 2 Confirmed

While discussing future projects, he let slip a few words about the followup of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

"The follow-up to Peace Walker is really something. It's a revolution, game system-wise.
We're able to do what we couldn't do with Peace Walker
."

Can this mean that Peace Walker 2 will be heading to consoles? Or that a new PSP is in the works? Maybe it's just that his team have fully mastered the PSP and will use everything in their power for the next game?

But as Kojima himself would say, "You'll find out"

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker is an exclusive the Sony PSP system and was released one month ago. It was met with critical praise and some consider it one of the best Metal Gears in the franchise. Our review for it will be up soon.

Sounds like the PS3 exclusive title Kojima is going to announce at TGS....

Just a shame I'm off the wagon, I won't be playing PW1 so I feel I've missed out on part of the series, so not very enticing to be given the sequel =/

Gavin, didn't they later remove that moniker on various merchandise and PR material? I believe they wanted to move away from the game being an actual sequel.

Not entirely sure though.

Yeah they did, Kojima classed it as MGS5 still, but Konami clearly didn't want it to be (I assume as it's not a stereotypical console version).

Seems the compromise was Rising is a spin off so has no 5, Peace Walker dropped the 5, and MGS5 may now be Kojima's next game.

Whole thing is as messy as a pile of diarrhoea, Konami are going downhill faster than Tony Hawks Ride.

They did, but many believed that this was the REAL follow up that should have been MGS4, so they called it 5.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that all of the MGS games are becoming a bit much now. I love the MGS series, don't get me wrong. However, I think we're reaching the point where enough is enough. How much more preposterous can the storyline become? How many more weird side-stories and characters can they tack on?

Still, Peace Walker is getting amazing reviews, so at least they're keeping the quality up in terms of gameplay.

In a way I do agree with you, since they are keeping the quality up with each title. It's not like Final Fantasy where there has been a clear downward slope for the past few installments. MGS4 was awesome, and from what I keep hearing, Peace Walker is excellent as well. I just worry that with each installment, the storyline gets a little more ridiculous as Kojima tries to shoehorn more side-plots in.

It's like a hit television show in a lot of ways. From a business standpoint, it makes sense to keep the series going, but at the same time, I hope that at some point Kojima and company will have the grace to bow out when the time is right.

When will Sony and other game companies get it in their heads that when we own a PS3 it doesn't automatically mean we own a PSP too (and vice versa).

Just silly that games like MGS5 is PSP only, same for Valkyria Chronicles 2.

why? exclusives are exclusives...

Because playing massive games like that on a tiny screen with PS1 era graphics and cramped controls isn't exactly my idea of a 'pleasant evening'. Handheld gaming devices were made to play games on the go, games that aren't

very deep or has any significant story line. It's fine they put those spin-off Metal Gears on the PSP, releasing an actual sequel to the series with actual content revolving around the main story line exclusively to a handheld

is pants-on-head retarded in my humble opinion.

And just for random information, I have a PSP and I do like it but would still never play any games with depth on it - It's meant to kill time when on the road.

that's the catch 22 this system is having. people bitched about gran tursimo portable being exactly that, portable. no career mode, just racing and getting cars, but that still didn't help its ratings, i think its averaging around 65 on metacritic right now, even though the actual game itself, graphics and gameplay, are amazing! I have invested hours upon hours on the GT on psp just so i can rack up the cars that i can transfer over when the game actually gets released for PS3.

But now PSP has a full out AAA title and whats stopping people from playing it is that its on the PSP. and the cramped controls is exactly what stops me from having long sessions playing this game, i get terrible hand cramps playing this game any more then an hour. their were the rumours that they were going to release the game via PSN so you could play it on the PS3 but no news has come of that.

Its weird because people expect portable games on the DS, but if the PSP goes for that exact route, it's get crapped on for not making an in depth game.

Honestly, the "depth" wasn't my main concern as I don't give a toss about that. My main concern is and was, they took a game that belongs on the console and the TV screen and cockblocked the userbase

by going the handheld route, which isn't cool. And I don't want them to release it on PSN for my sake as I refuse to play a PSP game on a 42" TV.
