At lease when I got mine I had the same issue. Ended up created a proxy server and sending all the data through that, worked quite well.

Hedon
PSN is indeed known for slow download speeds. However, you might be experiencing extra slow speeds for some other reason. Keep in mind that your downloads are also "installing", which takes awhile. so maybe 35% of that time is actually installing, not really downloading. That said, I just want to confirm. You said you have your PS3 "connected" to your wireless router, which is 3 feet away. I just want to be sure you are connected with "wire", and not wireless (you will get better performance with wire). 10 patches, downloaded and installed over PSN is going to take sometime. DrunknMunky Veteran Posted July 9, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 9, 2010 That's just PSN for ya. Try using a wired connection and see if it helps. @Brian, the last time I downloaded something from PSN it only downloads it. The user has to select to install it once it's finished. Patches are a different story though, those will install straight away as they finish. Cupcakes 1 Share

He mentioned he was getting 10 patches for LBPGOTY, so I assumed they were downloading and installing automatically.
+Anarkii Subscriber² Posted July 9, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted July 9, 2010 Sometimes the PSN is fast for me, other times its horribly slow. It does depend on the time of day you are using it thou.
Jason S. Global Moderator Posted July 9, 2010 Global Moderator Share Posted July 9, 2010 the PSN is not to blame. it's the PS3s wireless. i have my PS3 wired and PSN is fast as f*ck
sambrentnall
I have my Xbox, PS3 and Apple TV all connected by wireless, the Xbox and Apple TV both download items and my full line speed but whenever I download anything from PSN its slow... can't be getting any more than 50-80Kb's! Hedon
the PSN is not to blame. it's the PS3s wireless. i have my PS3 wired and PSN is fast as f*ck I have no way to prove it's not PSN, but I believe it is. I don't think it's the PS3 (at least when it's hardwired). I haven't used the wireless on the PS3 before. Downloads on my PC and Xbox 360s are substantially faster. Though it was worse at the beginning of the PSN life. Speeds have improved.

Cupcakes
Aside from PSN's usual download rate being crummy.. When is the last time you updated the firmware on your router?
Crisp
Your PS3 is 3 feet from the router, but you connect it via wireless... Also complaints about slow PSN, heh you get what you pay for
rajputwarrior
psn being slow is the norm... and the wireless being crappy in the ps3 is the norm too...
Jason S. Global Moderator Posted July 12, 2010 Global Moderator Share Posted July 12, 2010 i have no issues w/ the PSN - go figure. i routinely get over 1MB/s downloads.
Pablo2008jedi
Yip my PS3 is connected wirelessly, and the downloads speeds are rubbish, the router is in another room, but laptop/iphone all have excellent speeds in the same room as the PS3. The Xobx kicks its arse in download speeds over wireless, and thats a G adapter, not N.
DPyro
PS3 wireless used to be crappy, but now when I run the speedtest I get the same speed as my line rating (4.50Mbps - 5Mbps is the speed but there's a 10% overhead with ADSL)
HostileGamer
I dont really care what speed it connects at, it streams my HD content from my PC to my TV downstairs with great quality and no stuttering. Also my internet connection is pretty awesome too ;) Might wanna try getting a router with UPnP functionality though.
