Play TV to handle 3D broadcasts

Recommended Posts

Play TV will be able to broadcast full 3D content later this year, Sony has revealed.

Speaking in an exclusive presentation on PlayStation's 3D future today, Sony studios boss Mick Hocking revealed that the system would also be able to display 3D photos and home video.

"You'll see 3D games in the next 12 months, you'll see Blu-ray movies in 3D, and as soon as the broadcast starts through our PlayTV services, you're going to watch 3D content [on it]," he revealed.

Hocking added that PS3 would fully support 3D videos on YouTube.

"And as you start taking 3D pictures of your family or 3D camcorder movies you can play those back on PS3, too," he commented.

Could this be a function of Play TV 2? Roll on Gamescom...

Title is misleading, home videos, blu ray & photos != broadcasts.

Very confused was this article is actually saying,

and as soon as the broadcast starts through our PlayTV services, you're going to watch 3D content [on it],

Isn't Play TV the freeview/recorder add-on for PS3?
