It's not about me not liking the members in question. It's more about calling out the main trolls because their behaviour disgusts me.

The dev responsible for that is slacking unavailable at the moment.

I edited/deleted several posts while writing them because they were much harsher then what I ended up posting today. In the end I scrapped them because it's not worth it being warned because certain members have to be jerks.

As I said, what I listed only covers a small number of the ideas we're throwing around. Of the ones I listed, maintaining a 0 warning level applies across all forums :p

In the community I run you cannot give or receive rep if you have a warning. Most trolls have warnings thus the system polices itself.

We are currently looking at designing a new system, where reputation points would mainly be handed out to members automatically for certain things. A few ideas off the top of my head, that may or may not be included in the system: maintaining a 0 warn level whilst being active on the board, providing the 'solution' to a 'problem' posted by a member (akin to Experts Exchange) and so on.

Doesn't sound perfect, but it is a step in the right direction.

I think that this could be abused too.People might complain just so people can get a warning level.

Actually not a bad idea: General amnesty while enforcing stricter moderation guidelines. The troublemakers will be back on their normal warning level in no time.

Sounds good to me. I'm sure that whatever you guys implement will be leaps and bounds better than the old rep system. I've seen reputation/karma systems like the old one used on many different forums, and to this day, I've never seen one of them implemented adequately when the users are given complete control. In about 10% of instances the system is used for its intended purpose (rewarding positive contributions to the community), and in the other 90% of instances, it's used for people to prop up opinions that they happen to agree with.

Yeah that would be lame, I have one warning (they last for a long damn time) for something that was very minor.

You mean that all the people who have caused trouble in the the past will have to wait to get rep points.

Remember, warning levels go down automatically for non-rulebreaking behavior.
