KZ3 controls similar to

Recommended Posts

Guerrilla boss Herman Hulst has said in the latest issue of OPM that Killzone 3's controls will be "closer to standard run-and-gun responsiveness."

"I'm confident that when Killzone 3 comes out, we're going to have a set of controls that will really appreciate the vast majority of audiences," he told the mag.

The controls from Killzone 2 were heavily criticised for feeling too heavy. Hulst insisted the issue has now "gone".

"The heavy sensation of KZ2 is absolutely gone," he said. "Instead, this feels much closer to standard run-and-gun responsiveness."

As well as the standard DualShock controller, the shooter is also compatible with Move, as confirmed by Hulst last month at E3.

Killzone 3 releases next February for PlayStation 3.

Definitely a huge step in the right direction. Killzone 2 excelled on so many levels but the control scheme issue really turned off some gamers. This will definitely open up the game to being a lot more immediately playable.

So this is in context to the "weight?" What about the button layout?

If they use the standard shooter control scheme (L1 to aim, R1 to fire, square to reload/pick up, triangle to change weapons), get rid of the "cover system" and increase the field of view so it doesn't feel like you're a midget, then I might be interested

This is the best news to come out of the KZ camp, ever. Now, if they can just address the matchmaking with friends, it will be an epic win.

They covered this in the latest issue of Qore. They've made the game more of a run 'n gun type game than a tactical cover system and added more melee attacks.

Killzone 2 had potential but was destroyed by two things; the controls and the class based multiplayer.

I hope it still keeps its slower pace but gets more snappy controls, I can't stand twitch shooters.

I don't remember why class based multi-player ruined KZ2 or if there was as a matter of fact, its been too long. There are many games that use class based multi-player and it works, an example would be Battlefield. I played KZ2 a couple of times and I just didn't like its controls.

I am glad that they are going to fix the controls. Maybe now it will be a popular shooter.

Erm, it's my own opinion

I despise class based games where it's pulled over your head, they are the crusted turds of the gaming industry.

I know it was your own opinion, but I was asking why though. I guess you answered the question now.

It doesn't get class-based until your reach a certain level. You are basically a generic grunt until you level up a few levels

From what I recall (it's been a while so excuse me if I'm incorrect) as you level up, you are asked to choose different class abilities. Once you choose that class ability, you cannot go back. For example, if you start choosing medic abilities you can't say "Damn being a medic sucks I want to be an engineer" and go back and build your soldier that way.

In Battlefield you are able to try each of the classes from the start of the game, so if you have more of a liking to one class, you can choose to level up that class while ignoring the other ones.

That's not how it works at all. In KZ2 there are 4 or 5 main classes, and then there are also secondary classes. You can pick and choose to be an engineer and have the secondary class of a sabeteur. You just need to level up each primary class so that it unlocks the secondary class.

Thanks for the correction. I haven't played the game since the first month it was released LOL
