Gzuz-Kriced
I have a Speedstream 4060 dsl modem (which i know isnt supported for XP, though i have the very latest beta drivers - they were released 12/21/01 - and still the problem) when running Edonkey/Direct Connect my Connections Tray (and sometimes IOMNT) will eventually freeze after several minutes/hours. It does NOT seem to do it with usenet or kazaa. as well, i can simply leave it on doing nothing and it will normally work well. Although, sometimes it does freeze for "no" reason at all even when not using these programs, but they seem to speed up the process. My first thought is that it's a driver problem, although im hoping there is something i can do. Any ideas? oh, and i have the Home version of XP (blah)
Vlad
Here's an idea: If you suspect the problem really is due to your cable modem drivers (which is doesn't sound like), email the people who are making the drivers with a description of your problem, the system you're running, hardware, etc, etc. While I have no idea exactly what "Edonkey/Direct Connect" is, it sounds like a piece of poorly written software (after all, usenet and kazaa don't freeze). Maybe reinstalling it will help. Maybe not.
mortensen
eDonkey2000 is a P2P file sharing program. You have to run a 'beta' version for it to even connect on Windows XP and a new version has not been released since XP. It's not the best coded software ever [far from it] but I doubt it's causing the freezing you describe.
Gzuz-Kriced
well, this problem will happen without running any programs at all, but it's just much more likely when running those 2.
