+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted July 15, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted July 15, 2010 Loyal reader [redacted], a Best Buy employee, passes along not only this SKU-mor, but how new products on double-secret probation work for one major retailer. BB's listing a Madden NFL 11 250GB PS3 bundle with the same street date as the main game, Aug. 10. Right now, it's listed in a dead category in Best Buy's database. "That's typically done to mask a product from searches before it's been officially announced," the tipster says. So, no, Madden 11 is not coming to GameCube, nor will it cost $69.99. Nor will this bundle, assuredly. Suddenly this warehousing of new products in invalid departments makes me wonder if that's why we see so many mistaken listings for console exclusives going out on other platforms. DrunknMunky Veteran Posted July 15, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 15, 2010 Don't we see this every year with NFL/Fifa and the 360 still outsells it?

dfua
As far as I remember Madden has recently done much better on 360 but games like NFS and FIFA have a stronger link with PlayStation and tend to sell better on PS3. Same with PES.

Xbox 360 and PS3 sales of the football game are nearly neck-and-neck, at 48 per cent and 46 per cent respectively. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/uk-chart-goal-pie-for-fifa-10 It even stopped Uncharted 2 reaching top spot a few weeks later

If the bundles are working which it looks like they are that's why revenue from one platform is much higher than other. Bundles aren't included in those charts either, only individual software sales. DrunknMunky Veteran Posted July 15, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 15, 2010 First week is one of, if not the most important, especially for the smaller studios who don't have much chance to compete. But like I said, these games actually sell better on the 360 in the end. They even have unofficial bundles with them.

Figures please because a gap in revenue of $121m vs $73 million makes your statement hard to believe in such a generalised fashion.
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted July 15, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 15, 2010 Those figures are cumulative and for the prior year (if we're still talking about Fifa 10 which is FY 2011). Which means that Fifa 10 could easily sell better on X360 compared to the PS3, but other titles sold better on the PS3 like Rock Band or Mirror's Edge (which I think did actually sell better on PS3), etc. That's why there was a bigger gap in the revenue. I already showed you the sales of the game where 360 was leading by 2%. It was less than 10% when GTA4 sold better on the 360 too. I bet we'll see it again this October with Fifa 11/NFL
