Wiki vs Knowledge Base

Question

Hi all,

So for this project I'm currenly working on, I have to make a decision for the support center: an editable wiki or a non-editable "knowledge base" similar to apples or mailchimps. Which should I choose for a professional, clutter-free, user-friendly site and why?

Thanks in advance!

Well the first thing: What's the purpose of needing a wiki/kb? If you want user contributions then go with a wiki. If you'll be the only one making edits, go with a knowledgebase.

I use a knowledgebase myself as that's just what I prefer. That and I think a wiki would be too confusing for my... :shifty:  .. anyway! :p

i do prefer "knowledge bases" (basically non-editable pages), but was wondering what you all thought on the matter

You can't control what people post. If poorly-worded or incomplete information are "unprofessional", then you want to eliminate as much of that as possible.

Therefore a wiki would be less desirable for a "professional, clutter-free" site. You need to have guidelines that are followed for all entries and such across your site. A knowledge base with only a select couple of approvers/editors are what you are seeking. (Y)
