VidER
Hi All. I noticed that in the official Sony PS3 website, they list two different official controllers. One is called the (DUALSHOCK?3 Wireless Controller) and the other is called (SIXAXIS? Wireless Controller). They look identical, and they both support the "SIXAXIS? motion sensing technology". But each has a different model number (scph-98050) vs. (scph-98040). So what is the difference exactly? Which one is the stock controller that comes with the console? And is the other any better? Thanks. VidER
Tech Star
One of them have the rumble feature added to it (DUALSHOCK 3), the other doesn't (SIXAXIS). They only make Dualshock 3's now and they come with all the newest PS3's.
speedy_kevin
The DUALSHOCK controller can vibrate, sold with newer ps3 models. The SIXASIS is a older model, no vibrate, which was sold with the first ps3 models.

+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted July 20, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted July 20, 2010 I think Sonys original claim was that vibration was impossible to pair with the SIXAXIS technology. ... Which is why there are two.
Sethos
I think Sonys original claim was that vibration was impossible to pair with the SIXAXIS technology. ... Which is why there are two. No, it was a legal dispute.
Smashing Pumpkin
And they cited rumble as being old hat too.
DukeEsquire
I think Sonys original claim was that vibration was impossible to pair with the SIXAXIS technology. ... Which is why there are two. They didn't want to say it was because of legal issues for obvious legal reasons. "Hey, we can't use it because we jack the technology from someone else!" Kind of makes it hard to argue otherwise in front of a judge later.
