Im so looking forward to this, sadly I only have a PC so I have to wait, but the buzz is very good about the game and the previews look fantastic

you should try

www.metacritic.com, it shows you all the reviews by the people reviewing it and also it averages the scores, its like rottentomatoes.com.

Wouldn't trust IGN as far as I could throw them. Wouldn't trust anything I read on the Net, I'll wait for the Edge review then rent it thanks.

Actually I would trust ign more than edge now after reading the latest issue. (haven't had edge for a while, after they screwed up reviews two or 3 issues in a row a while back)

If you watch the dvd that came with it, the guy is a blatant ps2 fanboy, and edge quite often score games for the sake of being different now. IGN have recently been pretty much spot-on with most of their reviews across all formats.

Ok that's it.. I'm not waiting until September for this. I'll just get the US version and switch my Xbox over to NTSC :)

If you import it, can you tell us if it's region locked or not? I know that there are some games that aren't, and I'm hoping this is one of them.

Scores this month:

Tomb raider - 4

Eye Toy - 8

Elite Force 2 - 6

Ghost Master - 6

Bounty Hunter - 7

Starsky and Hutch - 7

Wario World - 7

Ghost Vibration - 5

Smash Cars - 7

Beach Volleyball - 6

Naruto 'Gekito Ninja Taisen' - 3

Hulk - 3

5 is an average score in Edge (for anyone who doesn't read it), not 7 like 99.99% of other websites out their review by. I can't see a fault in any of those scores apart from maybe EyeToy which deserves a 7 maybe.

the eye toy got an 8? those games look like the games i got with my webcam, and they're a steaming pile of crap that are boring in 10 mins. :s

If it was a single player game only, they'd have given it a 4, but in multiplayer it rocks and is ony of the best party games out there. Here's a quote from the review:

It's not the greatest game of all time - it would be odd if it was, because this is a brave new world - but it is, perhaps, the most inclusive. On that reasoning, EyeToy could have revieved a ten, because it's potentially revolutionary. Edge could have also given it a four, because sometimes it disappoints. However, EyeToy will get an eight, because it's excellent, and has quickly become a favourite with friends. What you give depends on what you get out of it, and that depends on what you put into it. Your choise, but we would recommend People.

It really is quality when you have a load of friends round, and it's so accessible to anyone, at one point even my mates mum, dad and sister joined in; you wouldn't get that with resident evil 0.

Well, I tend to agree with IGN's reviews most of the time, which is why I paid for a subscription :) Game seems like it will be loads fun after reading through the review. Still not sure about the gameplay, though, so I'll have to try out the game when my brother finally gets his xbox in August. I'm almost tempted to buy one myself but I can't justify spending $400 - $500 right now (with mods). I rather waste it on a dx 9 card.

There weren't any reviews I really disagreed with this month - it was almost a year ago now that I ditched them (the current issue is the e3 one, right?) but I think eye-toy should have been a 6 or 7 at best.

The guy on the e3 dvd was a clear sony fanboy though.

Nah, it's not the E3 issue, but what makes you say the guy on the DVD is a Sony fanboy? Not to mention Edge didn't make the DVD, Gamer.tv did.

Well if IGN's review holds up, this will be the next game I buy. By the way, the reviewer(Aaron Boulding) hates RPGs, hates them. That makes this review even more incredible. :woot:

Knights of the Old Republic is an outstanding game because it covers every single angle in terms of audience expectations. It's got enough Star Wars to satisfy the fans and enough pure fun to draw in people who normally wouldn't get into role-playing games. You'll see this on several Game of the Year nomination lists if not at the very top soon enough.

Put this up there with Halo, Splinter Cell and any other Xbox game that kept you up way too late or caused you to neglect your loved ones. It grabs you early on by giving your character some cool toys to play with and some familiar Star Wars critters to welcome you back and next thing you know you've got a space ship, a light saber, a wookie and a droid. With Knights of the Old Republic, the galaxy is yours, get out there and get some.

-- Aaron Boulding

? ?

10.0?  Presentation

There's more real Star Warsedness in this game than in the last two movies combined. Great menu system has the best use of triggers we've seen in a while.? ?

9.0?  Graphics

A hiccup or two here or there, but for the most part, this is one of the prettiest Star Wars games on any system in any genre.? ?

10.0?  Sound

The sound effects are given but the voice-acting was so amazing, we think the standard has just been raised.? ?

9.0?  Gameplay

It moves like an action game, plays like nothing you've played before and makes role--playing exciting again.? ?

10.0?  Lasting Appeal

This will probably be the deepest single player experience available on Xbox when all is said and done. Wait there's going to be downloadable content too??

9.5  Overall (not an average)

The guys at NTSC seem to think it's prety good:

Ah, morning and I'm about to make breakfast... thought I'd share an interesting KOTOR tidbit for all before getting ready for work.

I was talking to Aaron the other day and I was like "Hey, where did you find this party member?" And he told me and it was a planet I hadn't been to yet. No big. But then he pointed at a member I already had and asked where to get her. I told him you get her early on during Jedi training. You have to fight her and then convince her to return to the Light Side.

Why didn't aaron have her? He's playing Dark Side and chose to kill her. Yeah. He killed her. She's dead. Not in the game anymore. Not part of his party. Never can become a member.

And more interesting, one of the Jedi gave him major hate for killing the girl instead of turning her to the Light Side. And eventually Aaron had to fight that Jedi.

Meanwhile, in my game, this chic is giving me props for getting this girl to return to the Academy and pursue the Light Side again.

Now that's cool.

Only ?30 at DVD BoxOffice:blink::

I didn't realise it was from Bioware either, this may actually be good:DD Downloading the videos from IGN insider now:happy::

They guy that had a video diary about e3, and was one of 5000 that got into the sony thing (I forget what it was)

He was saying that both the gamecube and xbox basically had a crap showing at e3. Nintendo's wasn't great, but Doom 3, HL2, Halo 2, Thief 3, Deus Ex 2, Fable, KotoR and many more for the xbox is not a poor lineup. All sony really had was mgs3 and gt4 (which looks crap ingame - also on the dvd)
