This news is US related, but looks like a lot of the sales weren't due to fears of RROD or whatever excuse you have, after all :p

Discounted original Xbox 360s outsold new 'S' model in June

by JC Fletcher on Jul 20th 2010 3:40PM

Microsoft enjoyed a "significant sales spike" for Xbox 360 hardware in June, but according to Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter, discounts on the original version of the Xbox 360 may have had more to do with driving consumer excitement than the new model.

40 percent of Xboxes sold in the US last month were new "Short" systems, Pachter told investors in a report (summarized by GamesIndustry.biz), with $150 Arcade systems accounting for another 35 percent. That leaves various bundles, also discounted by $50, as the other 25 percent of the month's sales.

"It is clear that the sales spike for the 360 was largely temporary, as clearance items accounted for around 60 per cent of total sales," Pachter concluded, "and it is not clear that software attached heavily to these purchase." Those discounted Xboxes would account for an even higher percentage by volume!

Excuse?

I made a point that I felt to be valid based on my own judgements, then you jumped on it saying it was basically preposterous.

I then defended it because it was my opinion.

Don't be so ****ing condescending and rude.

I have no problem with it being your opinion, and sorry if I sounded rude or condescending but that's not my tone here. But the figures in US speak for themselves at 40/60 new/old.

You asked a Q, I found an article on it which provided you with an answer.

Call it a day on it :)

3 by my count, 2 of which are hardware related and MS offers more than enough support for them.

1: RROD lawsuit - offers refunds on repairs & offered free 3year warranty with a fixed console/replacement

2: Disc scratching - offers free replacements

3: wah wah wah, you banned me cause I pirated games - sling yer hook ;)

Much better than Sony - *shrug* Here's a free copy of Babie's Horse Riding :p Now pay us $100+

2 = bull****. I complained to Microsoft for hours over the phone because my 360 was scratching my discs. They did not offer to repair my games, waive my repair fee, or anything.

I call bull**** on your bull**** because I've had 2 free replacements plus many customers i've helped and a few buddies who had there systems standing were given free replacements within 1-2 weeks.

Overall, I love the factual posts in this thread. GREAT JOB for the graph iron. It's sad how many people still think RROD is such a big issue and when the prick of a customer walks up to me and says "well ps3 doesn't have rrod" I laugh explain the point and then say "atleast Microsoft gave you 3 years on all consoles(before the slim) even after jasper fixed the issue". All Sony does is say "oh you got the ylod, ok that's no common" here's a free game now suck a dick and pay $130 for a fix and a 30 day warranty. Or now it's worse, you get a replacement potentially loosing bc)

at that note customer prick ends up leaving because he got OWNED.

Sorry but If your gonna be a prick and bring up "well we don't have rrod or blah blah blah" I'm gonna be a prick back.

I've had less success rates repairing ylod/rlods and blu Ray drives then rrod/drives. Which is sad because the drive issues a long time thing and ylod/rlod is to the point where it's truly a temp fix.

I've successfully brought back a lot of 360s permanently( by this I mean 6+ months of use) even launch day consoles. Those are the hardest but I've done it.

Gotta love fanboys...

P.S. I love the name "1up brigade" hahaha. That should be your new name guys :p

Congrats Microsoft, I for one bought the new Xbox 360 S and am loving it.

or because the 360 is more popular than the Playstation 3 :D

Well that a pretty unfair statement considering the Xbox has been around longer.

Well that a pretty unfair statement considering the Xbox has been around longer.

Well that's a pretty daft statement considering the sheer brand recognition of the word "Playstation" is overwhelming, a brand that has outdone and outsold

all its competition in the past and even outdid the old Xbox by a large margin and now, oddly, Microsoft have been able to position themselves very favourably on the market

and Sony were barely able to claw in on their previous success, just dropped everything on the floor.

A year's head-start won't do all that, incompetent leadership on Sony's front will.

All the while the 360 didn't exactly have a smooth ride either.

Exactly, I'd even got as far as saying the 360 have had more reputation-disasters attached to it with the RROD, disc scratching, overall reliability and

the people moaning for paying to play online. So for the console to still come out on top, for it to still sell like crazy and have a huge fanbase is quite impressive.

Makes it even more impressive when it does all that up against the Playstation brand.

precisemundo, everything has to be taken in context - very well put Sethos, the humble 360 has ahemm achieved much for what good old Ken termed the Xbox 1.5 that wasn't even competition. and like you said this is despite many setbacks and a huge bias against it. even if everything ended tomorrow, MS can claim this as a major triumph for them.
