Brendando
No, because if I didn't hold the controller the right way, it wouldn't work. The horse is dead, stop flogging it.

Rudy
I don't need a console that's more locked up then Fort Nelson. Technically the PS3 is way more locked down than the ipad or iphone... (jailbreak)
Geoffrey B. Veteran Posted July 20, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 20, 2010 I am not going to be purchasing any more apple products. I have an Early 2009 Aluminum Macbook that has been nothing but trouble and a first generation iPod touch which is the same nothing but trouble. Brendando
Whether I'd buy it or not depends on how well it tied into their current iEcosystem. If well, then probably yes. Of course, there's little to no way it would replace by 360; purely because of the exclusives and LIVE. I love Halo to bits, and I'm a big Gears fan too, and neither of those are going cross-platform soon, particularly to an Apple made console xD. It all comes down to what the console would entail. If I were to venture a guess it would be a replacement for the Apple TV, and more of a media centre type console. Instead of being specifically tied to larger titles like Call of Duty, I could see it utilizing the substantial amount of games in the App Store/and the other Utilities to make a media centre for the living room. If it was running these games I'm also equally sure it would run some form of Apple silicon, like a beefed up A4; maybe an A8, or something along those lines. They'd probably incorporate a rudimentary touch controller system, and then also allow your iPod touch/iPhone to double up as a controller too. Essentially I don't think it will be 360/PS3 type gaming; more Wii. And I could see it being priced aggressively too if it is in that segment, as Apple isn't stupid. Eating into the Wii's share would be a perfect way to get into the console market, especially seeing as the Wii currently has the lions share. Just my 2 cents. neufuse Veteran Posted July 20, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 20, 2010 Apple's console would be like the Wii, underpowered but overpriced and they'd play it off as the most awesomely magical system out there that can play anything that is not violent because the world needs less violence and no sex because porn is bad mmmk leave that for Sony and MS and it will be called the Apple iWii after they buy out Nintendo first, and Mii's will be rebranded as I's

TechFreak:)
I usually use devices that work great and offer me everything I need. If Apple made good videogame console and offered a lot of games, then I would buy it. I doubt that they will ever make anything comparable to Xbox360/PS3, so I vote no. Ryoken
Depends on what they bring.. If they have good games, a good console, and an affordable price, why not ? I have a 360, and a PS3, I refuse to get a Wii until it, and it's games, go HD.
Darrian
On one hand, the parts and construction would be top-notch and it would probably look absolutely gorgeous. On the other, it'd probably cost at least 30% more than other consoles, the maximum game rating would probably be "T For Teen" if not lower, and it'd probably only use DisplayPort. It would be grand if Apple would pull its head out of its ass, but I don't see that happening, well, ever. They'd probably still sell a ton of them if they did, though. This is a company that could convince the masses that using an Apple-branded knife to slice bread is innovative and revolutionary, after all. neufuse Veteran Posted July 20, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 20, 2010 Could you imagin it though, the iConsole Game Store where anyone can make an iFart game with no real control over what gets put out there like MS/Sony/Nintendo has...... no physical media.... just all digital tied to that console so if it breaks, buy it all over again.... GenBlood
NO ... Why would I buy .. what would be a over priced console ... that would most likely look pretty ... wouldn't support blu-ray ... most likely it wouldn't have a dvd player too. All the games would come from iTunes and cost alot of money. Also ... the wireless device would be slow ... very under powered and might come with a bad power supply too
iKenndac
The comments in this thread saying that an Apple console would be too locked up and closed are, well... I don't like to call people I've never met 'idiots' but I may have to make an exception. Think about it for a second. All of the current consoles are locked up and closed far far tighter than any current Apple device. Have you looked into what it takes to get a title published for XBox 360/PS3/Wii etc? I'm not talking about technical limitations, but the process you have to go through to get a game sanctioned for the device. Compared to the current consoles, Apple's system is as open as can be. Pretty sure it would be tied to the account ;) But still, big no. Apple isn't really a company you associate with games, or gamers, or performance/price. Don't Sony and Microsoft make a loss on their console sales? Heh, compare that with Apple adding a few hundred pounds for the Apple logo and you'd have a pretty **** poor product. Actually the 360 has the Creator's Club. It has a yearly fee, but you can write and distribute games.
Mint Tea
Apple's console would be like the Wii, underpowered but overpriced and they'd play it off as the most awesomely magical system out there... and it will be called the Apple iWii after they buy out Nintendo first, and Mii's will be rebranded as I's Above, and it would be such a closed source that developers wouldn't adopt it. More than the XBox, hardware trade-ins would arise to become regular occurances. When analyzed, the cell processor in the unit would turn out to be 6 times less powerful than the one in the PS3. An apple ap would allow you to store music via ITunes on the system, but every time you launch ITunes on it you would have to wait 5 minutes for it to load. But hey, overheating wouldn't be a concern.
Elliott
Just to make a point, this "holding it wrong thing" is getting old, and especially in this context. It would be like me saying, back in 2000, that I would never buy a Microsoft game console because it would BSOD all the time. Too bad Microsoft made that a reality in 2005, except they called it the RROD. Kidding. :p
