Help with Photoshop

Question

Hi,

I was wondering if someone can please help me create a simple image with Convex + Concav effect? I am attaching a sample.

post-190274-12797001169342.png

Looking at the image I think the trick is to make a gradient from top to bottom on one section and bottom to top on another section. I tried it but without that curved shadow effect it's not looking nice.

Can someone please tell me how to do that in Photoshop? I have Photoshop CS5 installed.

TA :)

You could make a circle, blur it and then delete the area over the red part.

Thanks but I am not a very good Photoshop person. I am just doing a small website for myself and needed something. Thanks though.

Thanks for the effort but without that curved shadow, it is not just getting the look.

Here is a psd where the image you posted has been replicated. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you so much mate :)

I just have one question. I did tr the same thing as you did but how did you managed to get the the gradient in the middle layer with the nice curve?

Glad to hear you got it working. Here is how I created the second or middle layer. I created a elliptical shape and converted that to a selection with anti aliasing and feathering turned on. I then proceeded to set the fill to 0 and applied a gradient to get the effect.

That is what I was missing. The one I made looked a tiny bit differnent than the one you made.

Converting that to a selection with anti aliasing and feathering turned on. How do I do that?

After you have drawn the shape right click on it and select "make selection". The dialog box that appears after that will have the anti aliasing and feathering options.
