tHE pRODiGY 2k2
For some reason when i put in a blue bottomed ps2 disc in my ps2 it wont work. I heard strange and terrible scratching and buzzing noises comming from my ps2. But my discs come out unharmed. And the strange thing is my ps2 will read ps1 cds.....weird... Anyone have this problem or got any suggestions?

+Fulcrum Subscriber¹ Posted July 16, 2003 Subscriber¹ Share Posted July 16, 2003 I thought the PS2s were all reverse compatible with the PSX discs? Anyways, how old is the system, think about returning it for a replacement.

Dross
You have the model that has problems reading blue discs (retarded isn't it?). You probably have to send for a replacement to get that fixed. 1- That or buy one from somewhere, 2- make sure you take the seal off without ripping, 3- very carefully, cut the serial number off both, 4- switch them 5- take back your old ps2. 6- make sure the box looks unopened! Works like a charm. My roommate did that because his Ps2 wouldn't read the blue bottom discs. We would have had to send it to Sony and foot the shipping bill and wait for possibly months. threetonesun
I had the same problem, usually after 2 or 3 tries a game would load. But, my solution was just to sell the stupid thing and get a Gamecube. I know that's not viable though. Check the warranty, or the place you bought it from. Where the opening in the middle is, put a strip of scotch tape right next to the opening. Not blocking but right next to it. Put another strip on the oppisite side in the same position. You're problem is solved. Don't ask questions. If you want your discs to work. Do that. You have my word.

Schuyler
instead of laying the ps2 down flat, stand it straight up. DONE
BroChaos Veteran Posted August 3, 2003 Veteran Share Posted August 3, 2003 why do blue bottom cds spin differently? (if the tape method and vertical ps2 methods actually work)
WigglesTheFish
i had same problem with a game my friend brought over once that was blue bottomed... and like schuyler said, standing it up stopped that sound...
oldmate15
wow, I never realised it until now. I am not sure if this happened only with the blue games, but if I put one in that hasnt been played before on my PS2, it wouldnt read the disc. It would after a couple of times tho. Then I decided to stand my PS2 up and since then it works every time :) (PS2 appx 18 months old)
