could someone give a better worded description of what this show is please

I think its just on this week. It's a show about how venues handle security for concerts. The show yesterday was at an MxPx, Good Charlotte, New Found Glory show. I think it was somewhat interesting to see how things are run.

 Now entering [Rant] mode...

I think a lot of people are really stupid at concerts. You always hear about people who get injured from being in mosh pits or crowd surfing. The reason those people get hurt is because either they, or someone else, was being stupid or ignorant. I've been to countless shows since I was 15 (I'm almost 22 now) and the most serious injury I've ever had was a bloody nose. And its not like I'm at lighter shows. You try holding up in the Slipknot pit at Ozzfest for more than a few minutes. It's VERY intense.

Back to my point. if people weren't so stupid, you wouldn't have all these problems. First of all, you are not in a mosh pit to hurt other people. It is not a place to start a fight. If someone knocks you down, show them some respect and knock them down. Then after the song, go thank them for the good hit. Remember, you are there to have a good time and release some aggression. By that I mean if you started slamming into people on the street, they'd probably charge you with assault or start hitting you back. This way you can vent any bottled up anger without worrying too much about it. Second, if someone falls down, pick them up. I don't know how many times I've been knocked on my ass and within 2 seconds, there's 5 people pulling back up. Third, if you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen. Now, I'm about 5' 11" and 150lbs. In case you can't figure that out, I'm not a very large guy. I know when to go in a pit and when to stay out of it. If you don't want to be in a pit, get out. The same thing goes for being up front. You WILL get jammed into just about the smallest amount of space your body can occupy. It's not the person behind you, the person next to you, or the person in front of you. It's everyone, and you can bet those other people are enjoying it about as much as you are. Deal with it! The closer to the stage you are, the tighter it's going to get. I've seen way too many people who want to be up front, but end up having a panic attack because they can't take being shoved into such a tight space. And when someone from the band comes out to the crowd or down in the crowd, there's gonna be a 1000 people who want to all be right next to that person. It's gonna get even tighter than it was before. Once again, if you can't take it where you are, leave.

Now on to crowd surfing. Don't try to "put yourself up." People don't like you climbing on them. It is more than OK to ask some people to put you up though. When you are on the crowd, don't curl up into a ball, stay flat like a board. It distributes your weight a lot better and you are much easier to surf. I think it also stops you from kicking people with your feet. If a girl is crowd surfing, that is not an invitation to grab her. Respect her for having the guts to get up there and do it. I guess the same thing goes for guys, don't grab their junk.

[/Rant]

Whew, I guess that ends my little rant/lesson in concert ettiquette.

well said Jared (Y)

It should be printed out and people made to read it before they are allowed in the venue.

HAHA! Thanks! I was actually thinking of saying people should be made to go to a class on what to do at concerts and then get some kind of certification card to allow them access to the floor. But that would be too controlling and constraining. Oh, and you know someone would circumvent the system or the system would abuse the users. Corruption = BAD!
