thechronic
I hope this upgrade means new flash version because a lot of sites that i use won't let me on them due to the ps3 using an outdated version of flash player. Be interesting to see what this does :)
SaltLife
I hope this upgrade means new flash version because a lot of sites that i use won't let me on them due to the ps3 using an outdated version of flash player. Be interesting to see what this does :) At the least I'd expect this. My guess, some UI enhancements and added/updated codec/third party support. Maybe even throw in some HTML5 support. strelok1911
I'm pretty sure it won't be Chrome/ium. Maybe Webkit, but not Chrome/ium
MightyJordan
As long as the "big upgrade" allows me to play all types of YouTube videos, I'll be happy. At the moment, it won't play shows, which for me, is hugely disappointing. :(
+Anarkii Subscriber² Posted July 25, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted July 25, 2010 Could become a reality after this happened. I have no problem at all with Sony putting Chrome in as the browser. It runs and works great on my PC, can't see why it wont work nicely on the PS3 as well.

MightyJordan
Yeah, even though I'm a Firefox user, I wouldn't mind seeing Chrome in PS3. :)
tiagosilva29
If I'm not mistaken PS3 currently uses Netfront (not sure about the version, but it isn't the most recent one) If they are going to replace it, they are going for something that supports cHTML. Nicholas-c Veteran Posted July 26, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 26, 2010 Interesting... Heck to be honest, IE7 coming to PS3 is better than the thing they call a browser atm xD (Not trolling! it's a horrible horrible browser is all >.<)

Jakal
It's about time. I'm starting to get frustrated with the browser crashing and the flash desperately needs an upgrade. Maybe this browser upgrade is a result of the Hulu partnership, to make it easier for people to watch hulu instead of PSN plus members having this ability. Of course you would still need a Hulu plus account.
Xerino
if it is chrome, hopefully it wont freeze or crash as often as that crappy netfront browser
SimplySchizo
Very cool news. But if I say I've used the ps3's browser 3 times, it would be too much. ??
Hedon
If Chrome comes to the PS3, I will be getting a keyboard/mouse for my PS3 and do my browsing on it (assuming they improve the speed). FACT.
