Digital camera purchase help

Recommended Posts

PixilEyes    128

My girlfriends birthday is coming up and I wanted to buy here a digital camera. I know little about these things.

I saw todays Woot and was wonder if it was a good deal? Also the image quality and reliability.

After sufring on Amazon for a bit I found this Nikon which I believe is a better deal.

My budget is $100-$125 USD.

Thanks Guys and Gals!

Get a canon. My wife is a photographer and that is all she uses. They are great cameras ...

Yes, Nikon has great cameras but the CoolPix L line is their budget line which has a plasticky build. I don't know how much that's changed but I pretty much think my Coolpix L3 is the worst camera I've owned (It didn't totally suck and took decent photos but I learned there were better things on the market).

As for the comment of "getting a Canon", yes, Canon cameras are generally good, but they're not necessarily the only (or the best) option.

I wouldn't get the A480, it has no image stabilization which is a nice useful feature to have. Check the links I posted, the first one s for a Canon

So is the Sony I posted a link to which is a better camera IMO

And the Nikon S3000 which I also linked to (and is also a Better camera) is $132 with a 2GB memory card included.

EDIT: Ah wait, those seem to have "Digital" and "Electronic" image stabilization which basically means it's bull****. Well, the SD1200IS and Panasonic I linked to do have real image stabilization.

Ok got it narrowed down to these two.

The Kodak has optical stabilization while the Fuji has digital.

But the Fuji has 720P video while the Kodak does not

Which one do you guys think?

Kodak

Fuji
