+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted July 27, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted July 27, 2010 Hi everyone, the next PlayStation 3 (PS3) system software update is coming soon. Firmware update 3.41 will add recommendations for games and videos on PlayStation Store. When you're browsing through the details of a particular title, you'll see a new "You May Like" section on the right-hand side. This section lists additional items based on the purchases of other PlayStation Network members who have purchased the item you're currently looking at.You can then click on this section to zoom in on the list and scroll the recommended titles. This feature is a great way to discover new games that you may not know about, and it's another step toward making the shopping experience easier and better for you all ? similar to the five-star ratings feature we added in the last firmware update. Please note that while the 3.41 update will be released shortly, the recommendations feature on PlayStation Store is slated to go live by the end of July. In addition to this PS3 update, the next PSP (PlayStation Portable) firmware update (v.6.31) will be coming as well. This is a minor update, and system software stability during use of some PSP format software titles has been improved. As always, we look forward to your feedback. Hedon
That is very useful to me. I loved it when XBLA added it, and I welcome PSN adding it. I have found games because of this.
RageOfFury
How about fixing streaming video using flash? Since the last firmware revision, pretty much all flash streams such as live.twit.tv are blacked out.
+BeLGaRaTh Subscriber¹ Posted July 27, 2010 Subscriber¹ Share Posted July 27, 2010 How about they make PSN/PS Store actually usable, well to those outside of the US at least. Here in the UK it's a total mess, with everything lumped together, at least in the US some sort of thought has gone into it and it's all nicely sorted into categories etc. I couldn't believe the difference between the two after I had created a US account to download the apprentice episodes earlier in the year. Yeah, I remember creating a US account and was amazed at how different it was, so much more organized.
Hedon
I don't live in the UK, so I haven't seen it. But why on earth would it look any different? Is the UI different? Or is the content just in all the wrong places?
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted July 27, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 27, 2010 The content and UI style is the same, but your content is placed in categories while ours is just a mess. Actually, I forgot they haven't released a lot of the PS1 classics in EU compared to US/JAP, so I guess not even the content is the same! Even in the areas in Home are completely different though. Japan has some really gorgeous designs, US isn't bad. EU....:/
Hedon
I assume that is like 3 different teams working on each respective language. That inconsistency just seems wrong (maybe it's wrong for the XBL marketplace too in those countries, I have no idea). I am very anal about organization and consistency, and I think they need to address that.
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted July 27, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 27, 2010 Yeah each region has its own team from Sony working on it (SCEA, SCEE & SCEJ). Japan is by far the best of the bunch of course.

KoL Veteran Posted July 27, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 27, 2010 The update was really quick. Took me like 5 mins. Usually it takes 10 to 15 mins here to update.
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted July 27, 2010 Author Subscriber² Share Posted July 27, 2010 Considering there hasn't been any "hidden" features found yet no doubt Sony found an exploit or something on their side, see no reason to rush this addition out. Could happily of been bundled into 3.50 (or something more substantial). Maybe more changes for the devs, but well, that's why they have dev kits and dev firmware. +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted July 27, 2010 Author Subscriber² Share Posted July 27, 2010 Just turned on my PS3, automatic update must work with firmware as well, was already downloaded.
Corris Veteran Posted July 27, 2010 Veteran Share Posted July 27, 2010 Wouldn't be surprised if this was one of their normal updates that they used to do before a second update a month or so later, but instead of the usual improvements to game playback or whatever it was, they decided it would be easier to stick some small feature in there as well. Just turned on my PS3, automatic update must work with firmware as well, was already downloaded. We already knew this didn't we, lol.
