PSP can't handle Super Street Fighter IV' - Capcom

3DS capable of doing SSIV at the level firm requires

Super Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono has revealed why Capcom chose to bring Super Street Fighter IV to the 3DS instead of the current PSP and DS.

In an interview with Famitsu, Ono said that although Capcom looked at the PSP and DS, the current generation portables can't do justice to the title.

Ono also singled out the 3DS's wireless capabilities as key in the decision. He indicated that allowing players to communicate with each other is an important part of SSFIV 3DS.

He also revealed a few details about the upcoming 3D fighting game, assuring fans "the gameplay will be the same as Super Street Fighter IV" and that the game won't be dumbed down for a younger audience.

"Rather than that we'd like to make it into a title that makes kids grow" said Ono.

Capcom is currently placing a heavy focus on fighting games, it currently has Marvel vs. Capcom 3, SSIV 3DS, Third Strike: Online Edition and the recently announced crossover with Tekken in the pipeline.

It may be, but there's obviously something built into the 3DS that make it better, not just better graphical hardware but more than that.

i'm surprised at this, as popular as the DS is i know many people who own the PSP and to cut it out seems foolish. surely if people are willing to dumb down their titles for the Wii then the same should be done for the PSP, which in my view is a nice piece of kit.

Why would you want to play a console fighting game on tinie weenie eye strain o vision hand held? Thats just insane.

Because lugging around a home console without a power socket & tv isn't an option?

Replace "fighting game" in your sentence with any other genre and it's the same answer. Why have portable consoles at all in your world I guess?

I feel sorry for the youth of today having to make sense of loaded headlines such as this.

What's wrong with the headline? It's straight to the point.

Straight to what point; I read the headline and thought they were talking about cpu/gpu, I read the article and it's actually nothing to do with the performance of the PSP, rather a capability that the 3DS will have.

Then you need a few reading lessons.

The headline doesn't mention any part of hardware, so why you singled it down to CPU/GPU is your own fault.

Secondly, the wireless capabilities were a key decision, but obviously not the only one. You don't "single out" something if it's the only reason.

Wow, I dunno why you would try to make things uncivil, I don't think I did...

Read the comments on the article. I didn't make them.

I'm not trying to make things uncivil, but you are making it sound like the title is misleading when it's not. You have misunderstood/misread and added your own words to it in your head. That's not the fault of the title.

Why do I need reading lessons then? It seems like you're saying that you read the headline and understood the entire article, which without a magic 8-ball is impossible. Maybe we need to agree on what a headline is so we can organize just what we're disputing exactly.

I think a headline should tell you more or less what the article is going to tell me. Do you accept this definition or propose your own?

It's nothing to do with what a headline is. Even if I was to reword it (which personally I'm against and I use the originals every time), there isn't enough characters available to have it explain the whole article.

It's no one else's fault that you included words into the headline when you read it and can't understand that singling something out means there are other reasons, but the focus is on one.

The headline is telling the reader the PSP hardware is out of date and can't run SSFIV. The article then expands upon this by singling out the wireless capabilities and that they would have to change the game to meet the PSP's specs.

I really don't see what the problem is and furthermore everyone else has understood it without issue.

It should really read PSP and DS

In an interview with Famitsu, Ono said that although Capcom looked at the PSP and DS, the current generation portables can't do justice to the title.

But who cares you two should stop arguing seeing as it's obvious this is coming to the PSP2 rofl.gif

Indeed it should, but like I said, I don't edit the titles and seeing as it's coming to the 3DS, it's more of a Sony issue seeing as nothing will run it in their lineup.

Anyway I have better things to do than argue over a news title. I'm wasting valuable time talking to Corris' cat

Let me just reiterate my point then, since it's obvious you fell into it.
