Sony Confirms PlayStation Move Pricing For The UK, Is Very Reasonable

Sony's confirmed the pricing of their upcoming PlayStation Move motion controller for the UK. It's very reasonable too. While you may already have pre-orders in for the device based on retailer estimates, this is the final word from Sony. As such your pre-order might drop in price at some point in the near future, which is always nice isn't it?

Here's the breakdown: a PlayStation Move motion controller will cost ?34.99, while the sub-controller will set you back ?24.99. The PlayStation Eye will also cost ?24.99 if you choose to buy it separately. Alternatively, you can buy the PlayStation Move Starter Kit (which includes a Move motion controller, the Eye and a Starter Disc) for ?49.99. There's a bit of a price war starting over this, but right now ShopTo.net has the best deals on this stuff.

In addition to detailing the pricing, Sony's also confirmed the contents of the Starter Kit's demo disc. We've embedded them after the jump.

We've already ordered ours. Who else is in, then?

The Starter Kit will contain the following demos:

  • Sports Champions
  • Start the Party!
  • The Shoot
  • EyePet: Move Edition
  • TV Superstars
  • Tiger Woods PGA TOUR ? 11
  • echochrome ii (PSN)
  • Tumble (PSN)
  • Beat Sketchers (PSN)

Heck, for the starter kit ?50 sounds like a bargain. I didn't think I was going to get Playstation Move, but this might have changed my mind. Thanks for the info.

so from reading the article the PlayStation Move Starter Kit does NOT contain the sub-controller right??

It's written pretty clearly and there's even a picture :p

Answer is no.

You can use a DS3 instead but I have no idea how comfortable that would be one handed as you'd be holding the controller with one hand and the Move in the other.

I didnt even look at the picture... but.. I just wanted to be sure - doesn't seem to make sense to label something a starter kit but not actually include everything (I don't believe using a DS3 will be able to be used and still feel "normal"). Hopefully retailers put better bundles together...

Probably because every demo in the starter kit doesn't require a sub controller.

If you want everything gamegears will sell you it for £74.99 - http://www.gamegears...nd-camera-p1499

But considering ShopTo sell the starter kit for £43, you're better of buying it and a subcontroller separately from them at £23, as that is only £66.

UK boxart, looks like it's a banner at the top for anything with Move functionality

Hopefully those circles don't start permanently appearing on covers pinch.gif

Oh nice you can use it for OS X too, wonder if it'll work on my Hackintosh

edit: never mind, just lame community / open source drivers that suck

The most recent version of macam is release 0.9.2, available here. This version adds support for a number of webcams. In particluar the PS3 Eye, which requires USB2, but has a phenomenal picture.

Might be worth giving it a go.

Looks like a decent enough price for a "starter kit".

The one thing that concerns me, is that most of the demos of people using move, they use 2 move controllers...So I guess if you want the full move experience, you gonna need at least another controller, and a nunchuck.

1 game out of the 31+ launch titles requires 2 move controllers (the fight).

Price dropping before it's even released? Hmmm... You'd think something that has supposedly so many gamers ready to buy it would hold up a little better.

Yeah, you could spin it that way

Or the retailers are competing and willing to take a smaller margin with the expectation of volume sales.
